GHL GUIDELINES

Who get s rated? Any player who played at least 1 game in the NHL for the season being rated.

IT = 33 + ((Hits/GP)*82)/4.5    300+ hits = 99
SP = Use your best judgement of the player's ability. Notable: Players who are small may be generally quicker, players who are big may be generally slower.
ST = Based on Size.Guys 6 ft, 200 lbs. Start off at 65. Increase or decrease by 5 pts for every inch over or under 6 ft. Increase or decrease by 2 for every 5 lbs under of over 200 lbs.
DU = Games Played / 82 * 100
EN = Forward: 25 minpergame = 99. subtract 1 for every 15 seconds under that (4per min)
Defender: 30 minpergame = 99. subtract 1 for every 20 seconds under that (3per min).
DI = PIMs. 99-(PIM/4),  this new formula basically means a guy with 0 PIM gets a 99, and with 296
or more gets a 25 DI rating.
SK = based on best judgement, generally there may be a corelation between SK and SP
PA = based on re-rater program or table
PC = PA plus SC divided by 2
DF = best judgement of player, often older players learn better defence, while young ones may play poorer defence
SC = Based on Re-Rater program or table
EX = Rookie 30 + 3 per NHL season + 2 for each minor season AHL/IHL + 1 per 10 playoff games.
LD = Rookie 30 + 3 per NHL season + 2 for each minor season AHL/IHL

All stats for goals, assists, +/-, hits and pen mins are prorated to 82 games before calculating rating. Note not required if calculating PA or SC using the rerater program.

NOTABLES:

Rookie players who played 15 games or less will have their calculated attribs modified by - 15%

It goes without saying that even in calculated attributes sometimes there will be a manual adjustment to compensate for a players true ability.

Process:
All calulated attribs are done based on the players actual NHL stats for the season.

Players are sorted into teams and sent to people (wiht hockey knowledge) These folks rate the attribs that
are subjective. We try to get reviewers that know the teams they are looking at.

One all the raters are done the returned files are combined again into one list and the OV applied. Then the file is resent out to the reviewers to look at the complete list of players sorted by posistion. Here they may suggest a higher or lower OV. They return their sheets and the sum of the reviewers comments is divided by the number of reviewers who commented to get an average. If this average is higher or lower than the current OV then we tweak attribs to bring them inline with the raters comments.

The master file with all vital information is copiled and the sent for conversion to DRS. During this time the pre ratings are made public for feedback. Players that comments are made on are reviewed and a list of corrections are made. The DRS will be edited based on the accepted changes.

The final DRS is named and packaged with a help file, html list of all players and a rookie list. The package is then made public or anyone to use. People who are not satisfied with the end result at this stage have 3 options.
1-Do your own!, 2-Edit what you want for your own use, 3-Don't use them at all!
