1997 Record: 3-17
The Greensburg Salem girls soccer team ended their fourth
season with an amazing win in overtime with a final score of
GS 3, Indiana 1. The goals were scored by Rachel Anderson
(the teams leading goal scorer) and Sarah Artuso.
The win meant much to our Lady Lions becaus of the bad blood
between the two teams.
This year the team said good-bye to eleven seniors, four of
which were members of the original team back in 1993(Lauri
Altman, Charlotte Sacharov, Jamie Silvis, and Katelyn Domen.)
Next year the team will be led by Rachel Anderson, Sarah
DeGoey, Danielle Liston, Katie Strickland, and Allison
(goalie), all previous letterwomen.
There will be eleven girls returning form the class of 2000,
seven of which have previously lettered, and two girls
returning from the class of 2001, Kerry Craig and Sarah
Artuso, both are letter winners.
All of the girls play with heart and dedication and are
excellent athletes. The record of three wins and seventeen
losses greatly misrepresents this spirited team. The girls
all aspire a much more victorious season in '98, and most of
the girls can be found playing and coaching soccer throughout
the off season. |
