GAME PREVIEW
vs.
Nashville Predators at Vancouver Canucks
Time and Location: Saturday 7 November 1998 7:00PM PST at GM Place, Vancouver
TEAM RECORDS
Vancouver Canucks (5-5-1); lost their last game against Edmonton 5-3
Nashville Predators (4-6-1); won their last game against Calgary 2-1
SEASON RECORD
Vancouver is (0-1-0) against the Predators this season. They lost their last meeting in Nashville 5-4.
OVERVIEW
The Canucks are fighting for top spot in their division with
Edmonton, and this game is crucial for the 'Nucks to keep up with Edmonton.
Vancouver has not played since Monday, and should be completely rested. Nashville
is playing their second game in two nights, and fatigue should be a factor.
Vancouver has had injuries to some key players, but hot players Messier, Mogilny and
Ohlund are still healthy and ready to go.
Nashville has been playing surprisingly well as of late, having won
three of their last four. The Predators have been in close games all year, so they
certainly aren't pushovers. Nashville also recently acquired former Canuck C Cliff
Ronning from Phoenix, and he'll be a great acquisition for the Predators. Ronning is
one the most underrated playmakers in the game, and he'll be playing well tonight against
his old teammates.
STREAKS
The Canucks are on a one game losing streak . The Predators are on a one game winning streak (have won 3 out of their last 4).
INJURIES
Nashville | Vancouver |
None | C Peter Zezel (strained hip flexor) LW Brad May (groin strain) LW Todd Bertuzzi (fractured tibia) G Garth Snow (hip flexor) |
THINGS TO WATCH FOR
1. A Vancouver team with lots of jump.
2. Josh Holden to step up on the top two lines.
3. A tired but competitive Predators team.
SUPERFAN PREDICTION
The Predators won their last game against Vancouver, but this expansion team won't mess with Canucks twice in a row. The Canucks have had a 4 day rest, and are playing at home. The Preds are playing their second straight game in two nights. If there was ever a sure win so far this season, it would have to be this one. If the Canucks don't come out flat, this should be a relatively easy win.
