OVERVIEW
What an exciting way to start the season! The Canucks looked shaky for the first half of the first period, but played better as the game went on. C Peter Zezel was absolutely brilliant, scoring 2 goals and assisting on an empty netter by RW Alex Mogilny in the final seconds. In particular was a great goal from the right side from a bad angle which found an impossibly small hole in G Jamie Storr to find the top corner of the net. LA had two goals called back due to crease violations, and allowed the Canucks to come back from a 2-1 deficit. D Adrian Aucoin also played an incredible game, passing well, and jumping in beautifully from the point on the power play to get some quality shots. G Garth Snow played a brilliant game, particularily in the third to keep Vancouver in the lead. Both goals from LA came shorthanded, and both times C Yanic Perreault pulled the trigger. Mattius Ohlund looked particularily hesitant on the first shorthanded goal, which allowed LW Vladimir Tsyplakov to set up a pass from the point that eventually ended up in the net. LW Todd Bertuzzi made his presence known throughout, getting chances and laying some heavy hits.
