Predators Bite Canucks in Third Period

Source:    None

The Canucks lost a heartbreaker 5-4 after rallying in the third to tie the game.  It was a spirited game in which both teams had plenty of chances, and the effort level was high.  The Canucks were down 4-2 going into the third period, but scored two quick goals at 1:42 and 2:26 by RW Bill Muckalt and LW Todd Bertuzzi to bring them right back into it.   Unfortunately, an untimely penalty by C Dave Scatchard at 16:45 of the third allowed Sergei Krivokrasov to score the tie-breaker and game winner (his 6th goal of the season).  LW Donald Brashear demolished rookie LW Patrick Cote in the first period, and then sucked him in by walking away after Cote wanted a re-match early in the second.   C Mark Messier scored his 601th career goal in a 3-point effort to tie him in all-time goal scoring with former Edmonton teammate Jari Kurri.
