Vancouver Crowned by Kings
Source: None
The Canucks looked flat in the beginning, but didn't come on strong enough in the end to avoid a 4-3 loss to LA Kings. The scoring opened 5:22 in the first when Glen Murray potted a shorthanded goal, in a flashback to the Canucks season opener when LA's Yanic Perrault scored twice shorthanded. The Kings' Robitaille, who scored twice in the game, made the game 2-0 at 6:28 of the first, putting the Canucks in big trouble. However, solid goaltending by Corey Hirsch allowed the Canucks to crawl back and tie the game in the third on a brilliant pass from Alexander Mogilny from behind the net to Markus Naslund at 14:22. LA snapped the dream less than two minutes later when Vladimir Tsyplakov scored the game winner. Garth Snow started the game, but was yanked by Coach Mike Keenan 6:28 into the game after letting in 2 goals on 4 shots. Corey Hirsch replaced Snow and was solid, including averting a Luc Robitaille hattrick with a brilliant stop. |
