Vancouver Burns the Flames

Source:    None

The Canucks looked to be down and out after the first period, but the came back in the second to take the Flames 4-3.  It looked to be Jeff Shantz's night after he put in two goals in the first period.  But after the first intermission, it was all Vancouver.  Mark Messier opened the floodgates on the powerplay, then Bryan McCabe scored in his first game back after signing a new three-year contract.  McCabe started the scoring rush by Vancouver's defenseman with two partial breakaway goals by the team's hottest - Mattius Ohlund and Adrian Aucoin.   Aucoin scored his goal short-handed.  The momentum was clearly in Vancouver's direction, and a late third period goal by Cory Stillman was for a losing cause.  Red hot Theoren Fleury, a pest all night, got an assist on Stillman's goal, but was otherwise kept off the scoreboard.
