Rain Bird Rose Bowl Trip 2000

At the grand opening of the new Lowe's home improvement warehouse in Bakersfield, our dear friends Jeremy and Shannon Toone won a trip to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses parade and bowl game for New Year's 2000. We already had plans to be in Los Angeles for the Millennium Eagles concert at the Staple's Center in downtown LA, so Jeremy and Shannon offered this trip, and it's accompanying hotel stay, to us. Thank you!

We spent four days in Pasadena, going to Disneyland (with the rest of the crazies), working on Rain Bird's entry into the 2000 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, observing these magnificent floats in action during judging (in the pouring rain and freezing cold), seeing the Eagles play our favorite tunes into the new year (with news of a bomb scare), and going to the Rose Bowl. What fun.

We made two new friends and took them to dinner on New Year's day to our favorite restaurant, Sam Woo Seafood in Chinatown. Courtney and Tres enjoyed some authentic Chinese food, unlike what they described in their Atlanta home.

Outside the float judging in Azsua. The Rain Bird float is in the distance behind Amber. Don't you wish you were here?
Happiest place on earth? Not today! There's too many people here!

Courtney, Jack Hanna, and Amber. Hey Mr. Hanna, where's your monkey?
Tres and Courtney agreed - they don't have food like this in Atlanta.
Hurry up and take the picture, I'm cold.
