The GLOW Good Girls !!!

Below is a small sampling of some of the GLOW Good Girls. One thing GLOW did quite openly was always pit the good girl(s) against the bad girl(s). That was not really unique, but GLOW seemed to take that approach to a new level in more than one way. The Good Girls were, for the most part very pretty, very feminine and very sexy. They also were typically abused by the Bad Girls, often in a blatantly sexual manner.

One example which springs to mind was when Royal Hawaian and Spanish Red each grabbed one of Americana's legs and rammed her crotch into the support pole (see Americana's page for pics).

But probably the most blatant and tasteless example was the match between the Southern Belles and Heavy Metal. During that match, Heavy Metal walked Tara around the ring like a dog, kicked her in the butt until she barked and then made her jump through a flaming hoop. Classic GLOW!. So here is my tribute to the poor, Good Girls of GLOW. Enjoy!


The Southern Belles
Probably the most pathetic of the GLOW wrestling Good Girls, the Southern Belles consisted of Tara and Scarlett. Tara wore a pink bodysuit while her partner wore pale blue. Tara was a very poor wrestler and was obviously chosen for her good looks, Scarlett was a decent wrestler, but not quite as attractive as Tara. But it was obvious that this team were there for the appearance, NOT for their athletic abitlity. Tara went on to wrestle by herself and with other partners after Scarlett left GLOW. Her leg was supposedly broken in a match against the Headhunters so she went on with a stint as a commentator with the cartoon "Max Headroom-like" character host in the later days of GLOW.

The Farmer's Daughters
There were actually 3 Farmer's Daughters characters, though they wrestled under three different first names. The first was Sally. The next and most remembered was was Amy, played by Trudy Adams. Trudy left GLOW to join David McLane in POWW and later starred in the women's wrestling movie, "American Angels, Baptism of Blood". She also wrestled for several of the video companies after that. Once she left GLOW, Sally came back and brought along her younger "sister" named Babe, who was played by the lovely Ursula Hayden.







Susie Spirit
Though she did not seem to be one of the favorites of the fans, Susie Spirit was one of the favorites of GLOW management who placed her on two covers of the short-lived GLOW magazine (see below). She wrestled as a member of the "Cheerleaders Tag Team", with Debbie Debutante, and later with Americana as the "All Americans Tag Team". She also wrestled solo. While not a very good wrestler, she was very athletic and had some gymnastic ability. A big storyline for GLOW was how Susie broker her arm in a match with Mana the Headhunter.






The Fiji's
There were two, as different as night and day. First there was Little Fiji, an attractive Polynseian looking girl who was no taller than 5 foot and less than 100 pounds. She had no wrestling skill whatsoever, and was used solely as a means of getting her 300 pound plus partner, Mount Fiji, to defend her. Mount fiji was alos a bit of a joke, as she was so fat, she could barely move, never mind wrestle. Incorporating characters like these two was one of the resons, in my humble opinion, why GLOW failed. They had no redeeming qualities in relation to wrestling.





Other Misc. Good Girls
First Row
From left to right they are:
Ashley Cartier- Tina Ferrari's tag team partner.
The California Doll- Real name was Jane Hamlin. This character was around for the first 2 seasons, but left with David McLane to join POWW. Another similar character was Sunny the California Girl, played by Patricia Summerland in the third season.
Olympia- Real name Debbie Core (unsure of spelling). A former bodybuilder, very big and strong woman, but not much of a wrestler. Wish I had a stomach like hers though!
Second Row
From left to right they are:
Little Egypt- A cute, smaller woman. No wrestling skill or strength, but seemed to satisfy the stomach and foot fethists. It is rumored that she had been spotted working at a car rental booth in the Las Vegas airport awhile ago.
