Stackhouse & Wallace to be Honored
Normally Jerry Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace would be among 15 former
Carolina players who would be busy Friday night in the NBA. Instead, they'll
be honored at halftime of the Appalachian State-Carolina game.
The two former UNC All-Americas will have their college jerseys added to
the 33 which are already hanging from the rafters of the Smith Center The
#42 worn by Stackhouse, and the #30 worn by Wallace will be honored
because both were among the top ten players in the country on a
recognized All-America team during the 1994-95 season
Stackhouse, the third player chosen overall in the 1995 NBA draft, averaged
19.2 points and 8.2 rebounds during his last year at Carolina. Wallace, the
fourth player taken in that same draft, averaged 16.6 points and 8.2
rebounds before coming out.
Stackhouse, drafted originally by the Philadephia 76'ers, spent last year with
the Detroit Pistons, while Wallace, who went first to the Washington
Bullets, was with the Portland Trailblazers
