WALLACE PLANS NEW RESTAURANT IN PHILLY

Scott Flander reported in Saturday's PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS that former Philadelphia city high school basketball star and Blazers F Rasheed Wallace "plans to open a themed restaurant called Hoops near Temple University in North Philadelphia." Flander: "Wallace's participation is expected to revitalize the project, said Jamel Cato, of the North Philadelphia Financial Partnership, which lends money for projects in the empowerment zone.

In addition to thd second-floor restaurant, Wallace will locate his charitable foundation in the building, and open a lounge and bar on the first floor."

According to Cato, Wallace's components of the project will create 50 to 70 jobs. Flander added that Wallace is contributing about 50 percent of the financing of the multimillion-dollar' deal" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 11/7).
