News Update--4/20/99
Well hello readers, I am back for my weekly update of news and happenings in the WWF. So without further ado, lets get into the thick of things…..
Welcome back Jim Ross. He has finally regained the seat, which is his alongside with the King. There is something about those two, I don't know it is just a certain chemistry between them. Any way it is good to see the fella back!
WWF Smackdown will be aired for the first time on April 29. It will contain action that was taped from two days earlier which will take place in New Haven, Connecticut.
Jerry Lawler is rumored to be purchasing a condo in Florida. To be exact it is near Ft. Myers and will serve as a holiday retreat.
The tour of Europe was highly successful with nearly $1.5 in tickets sold. Talking of grossing, WrestleMania is at about 850,000 buys which makes it the most watched WrestleMania in history, knocking WrestleMania 3 off the top spot.
In the past six months, Paul Wight has been rumored to have lost nearly 100 lbs. I don't know how true that is because the last I heard was that he has GAINED weight. Oh well, the Big Show looks great anyhow.
Speaking of Paul Wight, he looks to be entering a feud with the Undertaker. From what we saw last night anyway seems to be pointing towards that theory. Surely the WWF aren't making these two guys square off for nothing. In fact I think this match could take place as early as King of the Ring, maybe even before. Don't kid yourself, this is a highly marketable match and could do wonders for Vince McMahon. It would only add steam to his already powerful machine. The story line could lead to getting Steve Austin involved somehow which can only make the outlook more exciting. Lets wait and see what takes place.
Golga, Gillberg and The Blue Meanie have all been officially released by the company. All of the above characters have lost steam recently and the WWF obviously didn't see anything they could do with them. The Meanie will more than likely pop up in ECW but the other two, I have no idea where they will go or what they will do.
Once again it is noticable to see that Ken Shamrock is getting pushed like anybody's business. The botoom line: the WWF don't want Shamrock to leave for other things notably UFC. This is because of the fact that anything could happen to Shamrock in terms of injury or even after his UFC stint a move to WCW. So make him want to stay, they are giving him more telly time as well as a monster push into feuding with the Undertaker. I don't want to see Shamrock moved anywhere else because he is one the performers I prefer to see in action. We shall have to wait and see how things pan out.
Tickets for the May IYH: Over the Edge are already sold out. The sold completely in 38 minutes flat.
Steve Austin was nearly run over by a crazy driver as he was getting ready to fly out to start the Canadian tour. He is okay and wasn't injured, but a an investigation is pending after Austin got the number plate.
No more news on the Manchester event "No Mercy". But as soon as I get it I will print it.

Okay guys gotta go but I will return with another update soon. I have had NO feedback as of yet and I am starting to get a little dis-heartened. I really need to know what you guys think so please, even if it is only short, tell me what you think. Till next time.
