September 1998 from Huddersfield
Hudderfield 1 Everton 1
Alison

Watson

Everton missed the chance of taking a good oppurtunity to advance into the third round of the Worthington League Cup when it was held 1-1 by Diviosion 1 pace setters Huddersfield after taking the league through veteran Dave Watson only our third goal so far this campaign and only the second player to score in 5 games. We were in total domination in the second hald but were unable to convert out scoring chances to goal, Barmby was a culprit of missing two excellant chances. Madar made his first appearance of the season when he came on as a substitute in the 81st minute replacing the injured Dacourt. Cadamarteri also came on the 74th minute replacing Barmby but could not change the scoreline which remained 1-1. Huddersfield equaliser came on the stroke of half-time through Alison after Myhre failed to hold on to a cross, they might be suggestions that he might have fouled but Alison made a real opportunist and ceased the equaliser. Maybe a draw might have done us some good after reason season when we hardly cleared the second round after being defeated by lowly clubs. The return leg a week later might be on the Everton side but like recent years anything might happen but if Everton can find the form they found in the second half of this game there should be no problem clearing Round 1.
