I am one of the founding members of OHHS's drumline. I am proud of you guys but a little disturbed about the lack of it's history and beginning. First of all, the name "Blackmagic" was given to the drumline in 1992. Only the original members we e allowed in the discussion to decide the name. After much heated discussion, the underground subculture of Blackmagic was born (the "Untouchables" was never a name for the drumline). Our first drum instructor(god) was Addison Gilbert. But like many good hings...Jensen removed him. During the 94-95 year Ray was brought in. Ray was a good man and thankfully he has stayed. The very first drum section leader was snare player Beth Cohen. Our first year we had 3 snares, 2 tenors, 3 basses, and 2 on cymbals. We were the first drumline to play and put together Black Jack which came to be the official cadence. This original Blackmagic Drumline was the first to start the rebelion against Jensen, establish our drumline as separate and far superior over the rest of t e band, and to begin traditions(some good/some not so good) to pass down to you guys. Contact me if you're interested in finding out more history and info on the original Black Magic Marching Drumline at OHHS. Always remember your elders in the original d umline: Beth Cohen, Niko Athenios, Jaime Carreno, Kenny Williams, Mike Stewart, Adam Lynns, Dave Bodnar, and Jared Wedinbaum. |

Workers of all countries unite! | Comments: Due to the request of Grant, I have come here bringing good tidings and bearing a great news. My soul has been made to rest in green pastures as I have left my cage. Though, I did not simply walk out as if the door were left open; nay, I bent the very ste l from which the bars were welded and even the fetter that grasped my neck tightly did not come off without great pangs. NONE OF YOU SHALL FIND ME. I SHALL REMAIN OBSCURE AS THE MIST. Have I divered from the topic too much? I suppose. This page rekindles y memory of band: some fun and a great deal of frustration. Still, certain aspects of drum line still evoke a laugh especially the phat rap elements of the drum solo (e.g. East vs West Coast Killahs) of the Gerswhin show making it worthy of the title 'mus c performing armed robbery'. The rotating stools visual, split stick parts, and the split drill were fun. The ever dramatic triangle visual added some semblence of life to the concert season. I shall further bestow mad props upon Steve Graves whom I enjoyed working with (especially when played booty rap during those boring King marches). Paralysis is a terrible affliction. Additionally, this page is a great deal better than that of the dance team; they don't even bother to link you. To close, the drum line should remain an autonomy; that was the only time (at least when I was present) that anything worthy was accomplished. |

I've been in outdoor DL for 2 years and Indoor for 2.... 3rd thi year. I am the "Pit Goddess"-- in other words.... head of the front line.... Our outdoor marching shows have been "Stargate" and this year Jericho.... so far our Indoor Shows have been Hoedown-- the beef commercial song, and last years theme was RENT.. we were first at Atlantic Coast Champs for the Hoedown show, and for RENT we came in 2nd for Chapter Chamionships....then again, this is only the second year of indoor drumline ever at our school... but as for now.... i'll send BadKill some pics of our L.... hopefully we'll be able to trade some ideas.... later! |
