DAILY JOURNAL COMMENTS:
I woke up at 7:00 and quickly threw on some clothes so that I could watch the milking of some of the cows. We got out to the barn and watched as Elvin put the suction cups onto the cows which then pulled 5 gallons of mild out of each cow in 5 minutes. It was amazing to see how quickly it went and how much the machines helped. After staying for a little while, I went back to the house to pack up my clothes that had just been washed. I packed them away and was ready to leave to go back to the church by 8:00. When we got there, we had breakfast which consisted of cereal, toast, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, fruit, and many other things. I finished packing up and then threw everything into the SAG so that I could leave by 10:50 with everyone else. After we said goodby to Connie and Elvin, we took a picture and were off. Matt, Tom, and Abigail left without me knowing so I left with David and Jen. We caught up in about 5 miles and then rode the rest of the way together. We stopped one time at a convenience store to eat lunch and buy a Fruitopia. After this quick stop, we got back on our bikes after giving our autographs to some kids who were very impressed with what we were doing. As soon as I had started to ride again, I could feel the acid in my muscles causing them to ache. It soon dissapated and we were back to our normal speed. A few hours later, after taking many different roads, we arrived at the church at 3:00. The SAG had just arrived so we put our bikes in the garage and unpacked. I found a sideroom where I could sleep without everyone waking me up early in the morning. I sat around and ate some food -- a never ending process. After this, I typed for a couple of hours so that I could catch up on what I had missed from the day before. Around 7:00 it was time to start cooking dinner so we boiled some pasta and made a peanut sauce to put on it. Unfortunately we ran out of peanut butter so we had to wait for someone to buy some more. We didn't actually end up eating until 10:00. By this time, I could barely eat anything and only finished half of what I took to begin with. We were expecting 6 more riders for dinner than we had -- they had decided to stay on at the farm for one more day. This was aggravating since they were now two days behind us and would most likely miss the next service project. (This group seemed to want to do the service projects the most and were always telling the rest of us not to "sit around"!) So, because they didn't show up for dinner, we had tons of food left over. Since I didn't do much to prepare the food, I ended up doing the cleanup which was easy since only a few pots had been used. Afterward I typed some more on my computer and then called my parents. I got off of the phone at 12:10 and did some more work before going to bed around 1:15.
