DAILY JOURNAL COMMENTS:
Today we got up around 8:30 and had to be out of the church by 9:30. We quickly cleaned up our gear and ate a breakfast of granola before starting our short day. I started out riding with David and Tom and continued on for about 15 miles. I then got into my aerobars and passed them staying far ahead for about another 8 miles. Finally David caught up with me and screamed by at a speed of about 22 miles an hour while I was going at 18! I started to slow down and in a short time Tom also caught up with me. I still had about 10 miles to go and got in by 12:00. We searched for the place where we were to stay for about 30 minutes and finally found it. There wasn’t anyone there so I ended up eating my lunch of Stoker bars and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I helped to unpack the SAG and then we put up our tents. We were able to stay at the home of a person who owns Strong Frames. These are all custom frames made of all materials. He has a carbon fiber road bike with Spinergys that is less than 20 pounds! I then went with Matt to some local bike shops since somehow his two rims got very out of true. We tried to have them fixed but they were so bad that we had to get two new rims. He got Mavic aerorims that have Ultegra hubs. These will be put onto a 1982 Schwinn frame! After dropping off his bike, we got back to the house and ate a dinner of spaghetti with some mint fudge that I had bought earlier in the day. After dinner a few people went to a talk about Yellowstone but I had to go and do some laundry since I hadn’t done any yet. It cost all of $1.50 for a lot of clothes! We got back and then went out again to a local coffee shop where I got a huge piece of Oreo cheese cake. We got back and I put all of my clean clothes away and got ready for bed even though I didn’t get to bed until 12:00 again.
