Yakum FC is the local amateur football (soccer) club of kibbutz Yakum, which is located in the shore-strip of Israel, about 30 k"m north to Tel-Aviv. The club was founded in 1993, as a venture of football lovers from Yakum, and their friends. It partly replaced the Friday afternoon games which were a traditional custom before the club was founded, and are still held out occasionally. The club joined the Emek-Hefer regional league, and is playing with the league for the last six seasons.
Yakum FC is partly sponsored by Plastiv, Yakum's plastic factory, and by A.G.R. - a construction company. Yakum FC is known as the Red & Blacks for their unique outfit (guess what? in red & black colors).
At the beginning, Yakum FC was consisted almost solely on local players; but, as the years passed, it opened its line-up for imported players. Now, Yakum FC relies evenly on local forces and imported players.
As a respected and a contemporary
club, plus the fact that some of the team's core is now on holiday around
the world, and the fact that Geocities gives up a free 11 mega of space;
the management decided that Yakum FC
