Tigerton starters Matt Schoening and Ryan Neuman did not play in the Tigers' 77-47 defeat at Port Edwards. Kyle Redman and Nathan Griepentrog played in their place in the second half.
Port Edwards opened up quickly, taking a 9-0 with 5:35 to play in the first quarter. Tigerton fought back with a 10-2 run to close within one at 11-10 and trailed at the end of the first period, 14-10.
Port Edwards was able to build a nine point lead again, at 23-14, before Tigerton again closed to within a point at 24-23. Port Edwards ended the half on a 10-2 run to lead 34-25 at the half.
The Blackhawks were able to put the game out of reach early in the third quarter, scoring the first nine points again to lead 43-25 with 5:39 to play in the third. Tigerton would not close to within double digits the rest of the game.
Nick Desrochers led all scorers with 19 points while Jamie Wudstrack contributed a career-high 15 points. The Blackhawks were paced by Ben Holy with 13 points, although every player listed for the Varsity contest scored. Tigerton's next game is on Tuesday against Iola-Scandinavia, who defeated the Tigers 77-57 in Iola.
