KCRFC A 26 Montauk RFC 24
After the disapointing loss to Palmer the night before City came out and scored two tries by Center Mark Dunning and winger Chip Becker and Tim Davies made both conversions to put City up 14-0 in the first 15 minutes. Though some City mistakes allowed Montauk to get back in the game and score two tries of which they converted one. Chip Becker continued his tough hitting by nailing th free running second row as onne of the best hits of the game. Half Time 14-12 City.
The second half saw both squads take some injuries and scoring went back and forth. Hoyt Moore touched down to put City back up 21-17 after a Montauk score. Mountak then scored again and converted to go up 21-24. A close penalty to the Montauk try line and City went for the win, instead of the penalty kick to tie and did not convert. Second half replacement fullback Tony Buckley dashed over after some good phas work to score the eventual game winning try. Montauk missed a penalty kick with no time left wide left and City pulled it out 26-24.
