KCRFC 1st XV 32 St. Louis Bombers 35
Gillham Park, Kansas City, MO

A beautiful day for rugby in Kansas City brought about a battle for the Major League Rugby Challange Cup that is currently held by the St. Louis Bombers. KCRFC came out fired up and scored a try in the first 5 minutes. The Bombers battled back converting two penalty kicks to take the lead and added a try. City answere with a penalty kick of it's own to shorten their lead. The Bombers then scored and converted another try but City held them off the rest of the half. Half-time score 20-8 Bombers.

The second half was much different yet the same. KCRFC came out fired up again and punched in a try first but missed the conversion. After good defense from both sides the Bombers then added a try of there own. But KCRFC would not die and got the momentum going again and scored the next two tries and made the conversions to take a brief two point lead 27-25. The Bombers then got insided the City 22 and got the ball wide and scored a try an made the conversion to go up by 5. Again, City fought back and scored to tie the game but missed the win by not converting. To add to the excitement St. Louis missed a penalty with little time remaining. Full-time 32-32.

Two 10-minute periods were played. Dominated by defense. A City penalty at the end of the second 10-minute period proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back. Excellent game of Rugby Bombers 35 KCRFC 32.

KCRFC 2nd XV 7 St. Louis Bombers 2nd XV 36
Gillham Park, Kansas City, MO

The 2nd XV came out and played a tough match against the much more experienced Bombers 2nd XV. KCRFC showed a lot of potential with just the little breaks not going there way. There were some devistating hits by Hirner, Gering, and Harrington that certainly will get Harrington another Welsh Assembly tackle of the day.

It was a good learning experience and KCRFC did show a lot of heart by not being shut out and continually pushing the ball down field.

Man of the Match Charlie Hirner.
