KCRFC (3 seed) 44 El Paso Scorpions (6 seed) 15
Gateway Park, Ft. Worth, TX
The 11:00a kick-off matched the Heart of America champion KCRFC against the Rio Grande Union champion El Paso. Right out of the gate the City team showed a lot of fire by picking up a ball out of the ruck and fly half Tim Davies rushing 35 meters for the first score. El Paso would not be held down long as they came back and answered with a try of their own. City then unleashed and kicked a penalty and wing Terry Nelson then darted in two of his personal record four tries on the day. El Paso punched a late try at the end of the half to show they were still alive.
The second half started off with a try from wing Terry Nelson and was answered by a try from El Paso. But that would be the end of the El Paso scoring as the City defense shut them out the rest of the game. City fullback Jamie Musick and wing Terry Nelson added a try a piece to cap the game and insure a victory.
