KCRFC at Nashville
27th March 1999The team took to the road to play in the Nash-bash for the first time. Taking a skeleton squad, the lads played the Memphis Blues on the first day, a new team that has just been formed that brought two other teams together.
The game started off rather slow, each team trying to feel each other out. Good running by the city backs brought two tries in the first half and a penalty kick by Tony Buckley brought the score up to 15points. Still they could not contain the boys from Memphis, as they scored a quick and convincing 17 points.
The second half was much of the same, with the score going back and Forth.. KCRFC tried to put the game away, but Memphis just kept fighting all the way. Finally two tries by Terry(Larry) Nelson put too much pressure on Memphis with the KCRFC boys just winning 33-27.

Nashville
The next day brought on a rival game against Nashville the team that KCRFC had just put down in the H O A tournament last year. With many injuries the lads put on a fight but with Nashville having a lot of quest players it was going to be hard to get a win. The home team scored 17 unanswered points in the first 10 minutes with very good forward play from a large pack that was sometimes unstoppable. City came back with a try by Mark Dunning but still could not hold them, with a half time score of 7-31.The second half was much of the same until Nashville started to tire. Two quick tries by Tony Buckley put a little more fire in the boys but with a thin sideline of no reserves the final result was a loss.
