North Rowan's Latasha Pharr was 3rd at the USATF Junior Nationals in the 100 hurdles (13.59), likely qualifying for the U.S. Junior team that will compete in the World Jr. Championships in Santiago, Chile. (The selection of this team will be at the sole discretion of USATF.)
Pharr was also 4th in the triple jump (41-7 3/4).
Ricardo Bell, (East Carolina) and 1999 3A state champ from Havelock High, was third in the 800 meters. None of the runners gained the necessary 1:50.00 qualifying mark for the World Junior Championships.
Forsyth Country Day's Samantha Murillo was 12th in the women's 800m qualifying with a time of 2:14.65.
