Perhaps this is the James who filed a will in King George Co., VA in 1785. However that James had no children. See RFHA Mar 1996 p.6 for Will BK info from King George Co, VA.

i. JOSEPH2 RAWLINGS, b. 1762, King George Co., VA; d. 1812, King George Co., VA; m. ELIZABETH ROBINSON, January 21, 1802, Anne Aundel Co., MD.

Joseph Rawlings, son of James Rawlings of King Georges County, VA, is somewhat of a mystery to those of us researching the King Georges Co Rawlings. He shows up as a son, b 1762 and d. 1812. His wife was Elizabeth Robinson, died Aug 18, 1812 at age 44. He and Elizabeth were married in Anne Arundel Co., MD Jan. 21, 1802. Bothe Joseph Jr. and Sr. are found in the VA Taxpayers List of 1782-1787 in King George's Co.

 

The marriage in Ann Arundel Co., MD seems very strange.

 

There seems to be some confusion between the Spotsylvania Rawlings and the King George Rawlings.
