Andy's 1992 NYC Marathon Memories

This was the year I broke 4 hours. I think it was because it was a cold day. I wore those red sweatpants because of the cold.

One interesting thing about this race was that they had a false start. It happened at the Blue start line (where the elite men start). Once it happened though they couldn’t do anything about it. So they started the Red and Green lines and theoretically worked out the times afterward.

This was also the year that Fred Lebow ran the marathon. He ran with Greta Weitz. Fred started the NYC Marathon but this was the first and only time he ran it. Fred died two years later of brain cancer; about one month before the 1994 marathon.

Here is the finish line photo.
