1985 senior mens Queensland Championship
After winning the inaugural Queensland Championship in 1984, Wests (now Shamrocks) backed up to win its second consecutive Championship crown in 1985.
The club built on lessons from the year before when the team banner was built inside the newly built change rooms. When game time arrived, it was found that the run-though was too big to fit through the door and take outside. And so that historic Wests team burst into history beyond the public gaze.
This famous team photo below was taken prior to the 1985 Championship final, and you can clearly see the banner is in good shape behind the team, outside of the change room. Truly a successful year.
