September 2000 - The Australasian ladies Gaelic football team –

club – won the World Cup final in Ireland this morning Australian

London, including in the semi final. It was heartbreak for North
America who has now lost two consecutive World Cup finals.
Five Queenslanders were in the Australasia team,
including three from Brisbane’s progressive Shamrocks club – Angie Doyle,
Jacqueline Peacock, and Louise O’Neill.
Australasian scorers in the final were: Renae Campbell (0-1), Simone Cairns

Heartbreak in World Cup tour
opener

Jacqueline Peacock when she was forced to sit out Australasia's first
tour match in Ireland because of injury, early today Australian time.
Jacqueline was slated to start at left half back against Dublin

according to telephone reports today.
She is now undergoing intensive physiotherapy in a bid to be ready
for Australasia's next preliminary match against Monaghan County,
before the World Cup starts this weekend Australian time.
Dublin won the match 6-15 to 1-3 after Australasia played with
nerves for the opening 20 minutes, before settling down to play well
for the rest of the match, although lacked finishing in front of goals.

unfamiliar position of full back but played well, as did fellow
Shamrock Louise O'Neill who came on also in the backs.
Other Queenslanders Melissa Lee and Colette Byrne also received
playing time.
Australasia's senior mens team played the Allied Irish Bank senior
team led by All-Ireland Championship medal winner Edna Gormley of
Derry. AIB won 2-15 to 1-2.
