Billy whistles up sponsorship

Billy Rockett (left) excited with John Dodrill over the sponsorship deal announced this week 20 Feb 2006 - The Pig ‘n’ Whistle at Indooroopilly has confirmed its support for the western suburbs’ Shamrocks gaelic football club for the 2006 season.

Shamrocks president Billy Rockett met with Pig ‘n’ Whistle general manager John Dodrill and signed the sponsorship agreement this week.

“With the majority of our members living almost within walking distance of the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, we are excited about the benefits that this will bring to Gaelic football in the western suburbs,” Rockett said.

“The Pig ‘n’ Whistle has excellent dining and function facilities right in the heart of our western suburbs, and is an outstanding rallying point for all our members and supporters this year.”

The 2006 Gaelic football sign-on day is at the Pig ‘n’ Whistle on Saturday 4th March 5pm-7pm, and new players are needed.

Shamrocks are the reigning Queensland League mens champions, and have a long history of successful mens, womens, and under 18 teams, and always welcome new members.

Rockett launches 2006 season

23 Jan 2006 - Brisbane’s western suburbs Shamrocks Gaelic football club has welcomed a new executive, and already confirmed important dates for the up coming season.

February 21 and training starts, with the Sign-on day March 4 – a fortnight before St Patrick’s Day festivities.

Billy Rockett is just the third Australian-born president in the club’s 23-year history, and heads a new executive of Jacinta Kelly secretary, Matt Walsh vice president, with Matt Mayo as treasurer the sole retuning member from the previous management team.

Shamrocks won the Queensland League mens title for the first time in seven years last season, having become the first club in the world to appoint a female as coach of a senior mens team.

More mens and womens players are wanted for the 2006 season, and further information is available by phoning Billy on 0403 166 168.
