Picked 158th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 1992 Entry Draft,
Ian moved on to the New York Rangers in 1995-96 in a trade that sent Stephane
Matteau to the Blues. That same season, the Kings acquired Ian, as well
as Ray Ferraro, Nathan Layfayette, Mattias Norstrom and a fourth-round
1997 draft choice in exchange for Jari Kurri, Marty McSorley and Shane
Churla. During the 1998-99 season, Ian scored three goals and totaled 10
assists in 72 games.
Ian Laperriere graduated to the NHL after a successful four-season
career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he finished with
376 points and 615 penalty minutes in 257 games. He was a QMJHL Second
Team All-Star in 1993, a season in which he notched a league-high 96 assists.
Away from the rink Ian enjoys playing golf and video games. In 1997,
Ian was an instructor with the Kings Youth Hockey Camp.
