Girls/Relationships

- October 18, 2004 -

Leaping Lovers - Not that it's really any surprise as our society today, for the most part, is filled with trashy & slutty behavior. People have grown to think it's ok to just screw tons of people because it's them "having fun." That's the excuse used by the sluts & tramps anyways. Most relationships in Dorney don't last for more than a month or 2. Most of the people just want some action and then they move on to the next person. It's rather sad but it is what it is. Summer "flings" are the in thing to do at Dorney. I've had about 14 girls that I know of like me during the 5 seasons there but I don't get involved in the whole fling thing so I kept my distance. Too many tramps & too many head games played by people there.

Friends Forever....or Not! - It's a funny thing. You'll meet people at Dorney who you get along with really well for the whole summer. They are interesting and fun. They show interest in you and say all sorts of nice things to you. They say they care about you, they love you, and that you are friends...but then they blow you off completely at the end of the summer for no real reason. All communication just ends when the season ends. It always gets like that in August & September. People start leaving for school so they start showing their true colors before they leave because they don't care what people think...they are going away and never have to see any of them again anyways. They will say you are "best friends" but then turn their backs on you. That isn't for me. I like to stay in touch, keep friends from the park, and have real relationships not based on all of the physical stuff. But I guess I'm alone on that.

TOP 5 REASONS WHY MOST DORNEY GIRLS ARE NOT GOOD FOR RELATIONSHIPS & GET USED AS FUCK-TOYS:

#5 - They feed nice guys BS lines like "Let's just be friends" or "You're a great guy....you'll find someone". Then they talk about the braindead losers saying, "He's hot", "He's cool", or "I gotta fuck him".

#4 - They have horrible taste in guys...the majority hurt the good people and embrace the assholes who only see them as a hole to stick their dick into.

#3 - They are either whores, teases, and/or psychos

#2 - They play head games & hurt people

#1 - They lie!

Beautiful Girls - One of the big perks of working there is that there are gorgeous girls EVERYWHERE you look. I easily see hundreds of beautiful girls every single day with sexy, tan bodies and curves in all the right places! LoL. Makes you realize just how many people there are in this world...and that physical beauty isn't a very rare thing. So if one hot chick doesn't like you, no biggie AT ALL! There is always someone else out there that probably looks BETTER and is a NICER person.

Random Junk

Treatment of Workers - The workers get a lot of positive things, including free admission to parks in the surrounding area. But they also get treated rather badly at times too. They like to try and be pricks and get people to quit or find stupid reasons to fire them near the end of the year so they don't have to give them their bonus. They deny people who try to change their end of contract due to moving to another state or school...then those people don't get their bonus. It's pathetic. They treat their employees like shit & then when their precious internationals leave, they are screwed over for staffing because of it. I wanted hours all summer and couldn't get them because they had the internationals working and didn't need me. But at the end of the year, they need me because they are short-staffed. Tough! I'll work my shift and leave...no extra hours...maybe if I had been given more hours during the summer...

Employee/Team of the Week - This is kinda gay actually. Every week, they pick an employee from each area and a "team" that has done really great...or some shit. I don't know who does the picking but the whole concept really seems meaningless to me. I've known people who got Employee of the Week that were lazy as shit & didn't do anything while people from the same ride worked a hell of a lot harder and better. Someone is getting some head I think.

All About Me

- August 16, 2004 -

Mean, Distant, & Mysterious - Some people think I'm mean at work to co-workers...and sometimes I am. Some people also think I'm closed off and mysterious...or hard to read. And I am. Why? It protects me. Too many times I have opened up and put myself out there only to be hurt. And Dorney people are pros at letting you open yourself up and then sticking a dagger into your heart. I'm not really "hard to read" if you get to know me & I trust you enough to open up to you. I just have a hard time being nice sometimes because I have done it for too long and had people spit in my face and walk all over me.

DTA - Don't Trust Anyone. I don't at Dorney...especially the females. I've had countless girls tell me they like me, love me, whatever....then I try to reciprocate and they ignore me or blow me off. Too many people say things they don't mean. They flirt with EVERYONE, making me wonder if they don't mean it with anyone, mean it with everyone, or just don't mean it with me. A girl doesn't like you but she flirts heavy and then wonders why you like her. Then another girl likes you but doesn't ever show you at all. People have to be more clear about their feelings. There are too many flirters...they have no right to complain that the wrong guys like them if they are flirting with them. Duh! That's why I no longer believe anything positive that is said to me or about me because too many times, people say things that they don't mean. If I say something positive to someone or flirt, it's because I mean it and like them...too bad everyone couldn't be like that.

Ride Dummies 2004 - Thunder Canyon

- August 16, 2004 -

Height Check - People come up to the turnstile with kids that are extremely short. I often wonder why these people will wait in line for a long time and then bitch when we say their child is too small. There is a sign at the entrance to the ride where they can see if the kid is tall enough. You would think if someone came to a park with a small child, they would be checking the height requirements more carefully. Don't these people wonder why it costs less for the smaller children to get into the park? And then they bitch at us because we are doing our job. Hmm. It is irritating. Sometimes, the parents will plead with us to let the kids on. Yeah, keep begging and I'm sure we will break our safety rules! Ahhh! They tell us that the child will be going with an older person that can hold on to them...ummm no. Doesn't work like that. And what irritates me more is when I'm measuring a small child & the parents will grab the kid by the head and pull them upward to touch the bar. Or they tell the kid to stand on their toes. Or better yet, they GRAB the height stick from me and try to show me how to measure so that the kid is tall enough. NO! Do not take my height stick from me or it will end up permanently implanted in your ass!

Queue Line - You gotta love line jumpers...there are shitloads of them but most don't get caught. There are signs posted everywhere about line jumping but, as usual, nobody reads signs. People have all sorts of excuses. They had to go potty, they are with our group, we were waiting for them...blah, blah, blah. TOUGH! You go back to the end of the line and meet them then. And then there are those who decide they want to jump the rails are go under them. It's all good until they hurt themselves and then they want to sue or some shit. Is it really that hard to walk the extra 40 feet or whatever? And people wonder why Americans are fat.

Boarding the Ride - OK, so there is a fatass yellow line that people are supposed to stand behind while waiting to board. Most people ignore it, hang their feet off the edge of the platform, and try to touch the boats as they pass. Sometimes, they will even try to get into the moving boats! Duh! If you were supposed to get into it, it wouldn't be moving! And then there are the seatbelts....oh boy. You would think seatbelts would be simple enough but most people make them out to be more complicated than quantum physics. The belts are color coded...orange and black. They alternate from one seat to the next (orange-black-orange-black) so that it's not confusing. Ugh. People hook up black to orange, take the wrong belts, hook a belt to the other end that is 3 seats away, and put the belts across the wrong side of their body so that the belt wraps around them and hooks into practically the same spot as the place where the belt itself is connected to the boat. But wait, there's more! Then they can't snap the belts. They always put it in the wrong end, which is understandable at least. But then when you tell them to put it in the other end, they just flip it around and put it in the same end....sigh.

During the Ride - The main problem is that people stand up. Do they wonder why the seatbelts are there and why we make sure they are buckled before sending them? No...they are boneheads. So they stand up and walk around the boat as it's moving and spinning. When they hit one of the walls and the boat jerks, sending them flying into someone's lap, they usually figure it is wise to put the belt back on though.

Exiting the Ride - This proves to be quite difficult for some. Some people will get out of their boat in APPROACH, which is where boats stop out before they get to the platform. Would be understandable if they hadn't waited in line and seen the people on all of the boats before them exit when they got to the platform! Then some people decide they want to stand up before the boat stops completely. Well, when the boats hit the gate or another boat to stop, these people go flying on their face back on to the seat. Every once in a while, we'll have people try to exit out the entrance side or up the stairs to our booth...once again, maybe they didn't see the hundreds of people who rode before them get out the proper way while they were waiting in line??

Supervisors

- August 16, 2004-

Power Trips - Here's the thing...I don't respect most supervisors just because they are supervisors...they have to earn respect. Most of them get promoted way too fast because the park needs them, not because they deserve the spot. The majority of the Group Supervisors are half retarded or complete dorky ass nerds. Some get supervisor positions after a few weeks of work or, in some cases, having never worked at the park! I have been offered the spot 3 different times...the first coming a month after I started in 2000 after having quit the year before. I turn them down every time. I don't need power. Other people who get promoted that fast never worked at the park long enough as a regular employee to know how that feels. So they get this "power trip" - bossing people around without knowing how it feels to be on the other side, being talked down to. Listen...you are a puny group supervisor at a SEASONAL job...don't talk down to me like I'm less than you. Area Supervisors have the same problem sometimes. Most of them that are Area Sups now weren't even around 2 years ago...it's scary.

Chick Magnets - Don't even ask me why but guy supervisors are almost as sexy to girls as guys in a band. Girls are retarded like that when it comes to guys. I have seen some of the ugliest, dorkiest, assholeiest guys at the park get plenty of ass just because they are supervisors. Maybe the girls want special treatment? Or maybe it's just the different colored hats they wear? I have no idea. But they have some cute girls falling for them for no explainable reasons other than they are supervisors at a summer job. Uh huh.
