    Jeepers Creepers 2 - January 7, 2004

Cast: Jonathan Breck, Justin Long, & Nicki Lynn Aycox

    [ Official Site ]

    Overall Grade: C

The original Jeepers Creepers did pretty well at the box office. And the reason for that is because it was a little bit different than a lot of other horror movies. JC 2 was a sequel that made the mistake of throwing originality out the window. It takes place days after the 1st movie ended. The Creeper only has a few days left until he goes back into his 23 year hibernation. So, lucky for him, a bus filled with basketball players and cheerleaders, breaks down in the middle of nowhere which happens to lie right near Mr. Creeper's home. They are pretty much an all-the-Creeper-can-eat buffet. But since The Creeper took the young son at the begnning of the movie, he has the boy's vengeful father hunting him down.

    ----- HOT -----

  • Action. As mediocre as this movie was, it did hold my attention. There seemed to be something going on all of the time.

    ----- NOT -----

  • Story. It wasn't the worst movie I have ever seen...it held my attention. I had no idea that the director had been arrested for molesting a 12 year old boy but that doesn't sway my opinion of the movie in any way. The problem is that instead of being suspenseful and original like the 1st, this is a generic horror movie that we have seen millions of times with Jason Vorhees and Michael Myers. There really wasn't too much of a plot...it was a mindless "hunt and kill" movie and wasn't scary. Unlike the 1st, where the monster only ate certain people's body parts, he seemed to be killing everyone he came across in this one. It was just made to get some money...plain and simple.
  • The Creeper. He was a little scarier in the first because you only got a few glimpses of him. In this one, they showed him way too much.
  • Acting. This wasn't anything special either. The characters aren't likeable so you actually find yourself rooting for the monster to kill them...but there actually wasn't enough killing to satisfy me. Like in many other horror movies, these characters do some really dumb things.
  • Director. Apparently this guy was convicted of molesting kids. Add some questionable issues such as racism, homophobia, and half-naked guys (apparently to fulfill the director's screwed up fantasies) and you have yourself the perfect mix for an average-ish movie.

    Cabin Fever - December 2, 2003

Cast: Jordan Ladd, James DeBello, & Rider Strong

[ Official Site - Cabin Fever Movie Site ]

    Overall Grade: C

Five college students go off to a cabin in the woods to celebrate the end of school. Everything is going fine until a guy infested with a flesh-eating virus stumbles into their camp. It is then that the five kids become paranoid, wondering if they have contracted the disease. This leads to them turning on one another and having to deal with the effects when one of them becomes infected. The others try to figure out how their friend was infected and search for a way to help.

    ----- HOT -----

  • There wasn't much about this movie that blew me away. The 2 girls were very attractive...for most of the movie anyway. They both had great bodies and the dark haired girl was a little nympho...Yum!
  • The ending was kind of funny.

    ----- NOT -----

  • This wasn't a horrible movie...I mean, I didn't fall asleep. It had some disgusting moments in it involving barfing blood and crap like that. But it wasn't really scary...although I'm not sure if it was supposed to be. Maybe the concept of the disease was the horror. It's a "horror" movie and as so many of them are, it's fairly predictable.

    Freddy vs. Jason - December 2, 2003

This is something people have been waiting on for many many years. These 2 horror movie icons clashing was foreshadowed at the end of Friday the 13th: Part 9 - Jason Goes to Hell, and we have been anticipating it ever since. I was really hyped up by the previews and thought this would be really awesome. I never really got into the Nightmare series too much but I saw most of them. They are very weird to say the least...but interesting and original. And the Friday series was pretty much the same movie over and over. This movie starts with Freddy in hell with Jason. He misses terrorizing the kids on Elm Street so he gets Jason to go back and start killing people in a way to make them start thinking it's Freddy. Their fear that he may be back gives him the power to actually return. But when the big lug hockey mask guy keeps killing and stealing victims from the Fred-meister, he doesn't like it. So the two start fighting with each other and some of the kids get caught in the crossfire.

    ----- HOT -----

  • Blood, blood, and more blood. It's what you expect from a movie involving 2 of the greatest film serial killers of all time. And there was no shortage of it. Slicing and dicing galore, buckets of blood, and teenagers screaming & running for their lives...very cool!
  • Comedy. Maybe this wasn't supposed to be funny but some parts were. Freddy has his comedic remarks and some of the killings were humorous as well.
  • The Final Battle. The movie ends with a clash between these 2 horror titans and it is brutal. I won't say who wins but it could never really be over with these two because we all know they never really die. So, of course, they left it open for a sequel.

    ----- NOT -----

  • Acting. Never has the acting been stellar in Nightmare or Friday movies and this was no exception. It was really corny.
  • Freddy & Jason. I think by having them both in the film together, it took away from their characters and made them less interesting than they were in their own series. This could have been a BETTER movie if the story was changed around a little and had them fighting with each other more than they actually did.
  • Wimpy Deaths. Sure, some of the killings were funny but most were simple and boring. It would have been cool to see more climactic deaths or creative killings...may have improved the film big time.

    The Ring - July 8th, 2003

In a remake of one of Japan's highest-grossing box-office hits ever, a female journalist comes across a strange video tape that has horrifying effects...a phone call and then death 7 days later. It all starts out when 4 teenagers, who watched the tape in a remote mountain cabin, end up dead. Watts plays the journalist, who is the aunt of one of the teens that died. She begins to look into this mystery, tracing her niece's steps, and finds the tape. She watches it, not understanding it's meaning or the disturbing & confusing images contained on it. Then she gets a phone call and her 7 days have begun. As she races to try and find some answers, 2 people close to her view the tape as well. Now her quest has more meaning as the lives of her loved ones have been put at risk. Her investigation eventually leads to some answers involving the spirit of a young girl...but some things remain a mystery.

    ----- HOT -----

  • Naomi Watts - What a doll :-)
  • Suspense - For the majority of the movie, it had a good pace and it makes you want to know what's next. What's the secret behind the tape? What's up with the little girl? What do the images mean? Will our main character somehow escape her death? We'll see!

    ----- NOT -----

  • I'm not exactly sure where to put this movie. Everyone I talked to liked it...but for me, it was only ok. Maybe the fact that someone told me about some of it's secrets took away from it. Maybe because I was busy on the computer while watching and not in a dark room or theater took away from it too. I don't know. It was interesting and mysterious but at the end, some of the movie seemed pointless and confusing. Maybe I am just one of those people who likes to have everything explained to me...and with some of the mysteries left unanswered, it just felt unfulfilling. Of course, there will probably be a sequel. Maybe I'll watch it again sometime and like it better...we'll see.
