This young man has a varied and most exciting biography. Because he participates in 3 sports, I am providing each sport with link where I have posted his accomplishments. I'm sure you will be impressed as I was, and delighted to see that once again, as I say, your only limitations are the ones you create. Curtis' next goal is to qualify for the 2000 Paralympic, in Sydney Australia. Based on what I have read about him, I believe we will see him there.
Well Guess what, I believe my prediction was correct. The following information is a letter I received from Curtis, I am truly pleased and excited. |

On June the 29-July 2.I was in Austin, TX for the final fencing competition, to determine who will be on USA FENCING TEAM, going to SYDNEY. On June 30 I received phone call from team leader of the fencing team. She left me message. She said that "Curtis, before get on the airplane tomorrow you must make a decision on which sport you will do in the paralympic. Swimming or fencing. Call Patricia Shepherd of Wheelchair Sport USA with your decision. My 1st reaction was that I haven't made the USA Paralympic Fencing Team yet. They will announce the team after competition on July 1. Why are they messing w/me. I didn't need this right now. I had little talk w/my mother. She gave me some good advice. I didn't make that phone call. "JESUS will fight my BATTLE.I put it in HIS HAND. On July 1 I won the bronze medal in EPEE. Mathmatic on this day I sealed my spot on the 2000 USA Paralympic Fencing Team. On July 2 I had one my greatest performance in Saber's won the 3rd place bronze in SABRE. Once again I was in the "ZONE" nothing wouldn't stop me from making my dream come true. (but at breakfast the fencing team leader came to me again. "Curtis you must make a decision on which sports you will do in paralympic. I told her with one of the coach's present, why are you trying to put pressure on me, I don't need this, right now. My mind needs to be on fencing. I will make that decision later please leave me alone. I then ask, "is there attorney present here that I can talk too, she yes. When I got to the fencing venue I found him. I introduce myself to him. He replied we needed to talk. He told that me that he had meet w/the fencing team leader. He told her, that she had no right to pressure me to make a decision. She and P Shepherd are wrong, he told her to leave me alone. He, Curtis I don't know who is trying put pressure on you. But don't let it get to you, keep your mind clear and focus only on fencing right now." There is a strong possibility; I mean strong, that you can do both sports in Sydney. We have 4/5 months to work thing out. I'm in your corner. Here is my card if you have any more problems please call me. "JESUS always GOT RIM in the BUSH" this is only act of GOD, "NO weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee salt condemn.) |
