15/11/1999 MILAN ARE COMING TO TOWN |
They are busy brewing up one of
those classics in Turin: Juventus and Milan will be taking to the field at the Delle Alpi
on Sunday at 8.30pm. The much anticipated fixture, will be transmitted live on Italy´s
Tele +. Much is at stake in the game, with the two teams leading the pack that is chasing
the pace-setting hares of Lazio. A point separates the two, with Juventus second on 18 and
Milan third on 17, with the leaders on 21. Juve will go into this game with one key absentee, Edgar Davids, who was sent off in the derby game on November 7th. Ancelotti is also still not able to call on the injured Fonseca and Esnaider, but Kovacevic will be back after his two-match ban. Conte, who had to leave the national squad training due to an inflammation to the tendons in his right knee, will do everything possible not to miss the party: Ancelotti and Dr Agricola are optimistic. In the other camp, Paolo Maldini does not want to miss out, and the Rossonero medical team are attempting to get him fit in time. If indeed it is all quiet on the Juve front, it is only a calm before the storm, as the Bianconeri are bracing themselves for a torrid month split between the league, the UEFA Cup and the Coppa Italia. Things are also steadier in Milan, with the win against Venezia partially atoning for the club´s early exit from Europe in Istanbul. The Rossoneri left the Delle Alpi last year with a 2-0 win, with both goals coming from Weah, and it set them on their march to the title. But this year´s Juve is quite different from the ghost team of last season. Both the squads are back on the up: it will be a great game, whatever happens. |
