Highway to Heaven

Chapter Fifty Nine

Later that evening, Skyler walked into wardrobe, looking around for Julie, the WWF’s seamstress. She looked around at the costumes hanging in the room, jumping when Julie came up behind her.

“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you come in.” Julie said, smiling at Skyler.

“No problem, I just got here. Uncle Vince said he had gone over a few costume designs with you, and I just had to pick something out.” Skyler explained, anxious to see what she would be wearing.

“Yes! I have the designs right over hear.” Julie said as she turned to pick up the sketches.

“Um, knowing Uncle Vince, I really don’t want anything that is going to make me look like a nun.” Skyler began, sure her uncle had picked something very ‘conservative’ for her to wear.

“Uh, I don’t think you will have to worry about that.” Julie answered with a grin as she handed Skyler the sketches.

Skyler looked down at the drawings and felt her mouth drop open. She looked back up at Julie, her eyes wide with surprise, her cheeks flushed.

“Uncle Vince okayed these?” she asked in a disbelieving voice.

“He helped come up with some of the ideas. I just drew them out. I’ve already showed him the drawings, and he said they are perfect and it’s up to you which one you want.” Julie answered, grinning at Skyler’s flushed face. “I know they are a little skimpy…”

Skyler cut her off, “A little skimpy? If you call these a little skimpy I’d hate to see your version of A LOT skimpy! I wouldn’t wear this on Halloween as a joke, much less on TV!” she exclaimed, flushing even more at the thought.

“These outfits are perfect for you! I’d wear them if I had the body for them, but I don’t. You do, so flaunt it, girl! Besides, it will definitely get men’s attention, which means high ratings!” Julie exclaimed.

Skyler looked back down at the drawings chewing on her lip. “Uh, I really don’t care which outfit…they all have the same amount of material, hardy ANY! You decide.” Skyler answered handing the sketches back to her.

“You sure?” Julie asked, already knowing which one she was going to choose, partially because she had it almost done.

“Positive.” Skyler said, headed out the door.

"Okay, you can stop by to try it on tomorrow afternoon, I'll have it done by then."

Skyler nodded as she walked out the door, waving goodbye. She thought about the outfits and actually wearing one on Monday night. Suddenly she grinned to herself. Never in her life had she ever worn anything remotely close to those costumes, and now she had permission too. She was going to enjoy it!

Chapter Sixty

Jaden woke up early Monday morning and stretched, smiling softly when Taker groaned in his sleep and pulled her tighter into his embrace. Jaden turned her head and gazed into his face for a few moments before turning back to get up. She carefully slid out of Taker’s arms, not wanting to wake him and sat up, swinging her legs over the side of the bed.

She sat there for a few moments, taking some deep breaths as a wave of dizziness washed over her. She felt her body break out in a cold sweat, and her heart was racing along at a high rate.

“Fuckin’ drugs…” She mumbled under her breath, knowing that this was some of the side effects that came along with the medication. Slowly she stood on legs that felt weak and rubbery and walked to the bathroom for a shower. She was nearly scared to death when she looked in the mirror and saw Taker standing behind her.

“Are you okay?” He asked softly. He had been awake and witnessed what happened when she got up, and was more than just a little concerned.

Jaden smiled up at him, but was unable to meet his eyes as she quickly came up with an excuse.. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just tired.” She replied, and then continued after a brief pause. “You’re wearing me out. I’m not used to all this….” She was cut off by his mouth on hers.

Taker pulled back from the kiss, looking into her eyes, not once questioning her explanation, which made Jaden sigh on the inside with relief. “I wasn’t going to tell you this until later, but I simply cannot wait any longer….” Taker stopped when he saw Jaden’s eyes grow wide with anticipation. Smiling, he continued.

“I’m going to Miami with you this morning. I’ll have to fly back tomorrow morning so I can continue with my therapy, but I wanted to see Kane and Skyler…And spend more time with you.” Taker whispered the last part in a deep, husky voice that sent a shiver up her spine.

“What?” Jaden exclaimed, her eyes shining with happiness and surprise as she hugged him tight.

An hour later they were on their way to Florida..

Chapter Sixty One

Skyler woke up Monday morning feeling like she was going to be sick. She thought about her debut later that night, and again felt sick. Taking a couple deep breaths, she got up and took a shower.

Skyler went down to the lobby, ready to do some exploring around Miami, one of her favorite places to visit. She knew it would also relax and calm her nerves.

*****

Jaden and Taker walked into the hotel and hour later. Jaden looked around, immediately spotting Kane talking with some of the other wrestlers. She smiled when she saw Vince McMahon coming towards her.

“Jaden! I’m so glad you’re here.” Vince said warmly, taking her hand in his. He looked at Taker, noticing the definite change in one of his best wrestlers. “Taker, I’m surprised to see you here.” Vince said.

Taker grinned down at his boss and put his arm around Jaden’s shoulder, pulling her closer to his side. Vince looked from Taker to Jaden then back. Jaden held her breath as she waited for his reaction. Vince slowly began to realize what was going on, and a slow smile spread across his face.

“Well, no wonder you are looking so much happier, Taker.” Vince said with a smile, causing Jaden to look away, blushing.

“Uh, where is Skyler?” Jaden asked, anxious to surprise her friend.

“I’m not sure really. Knowing her, she is most likely looking around the city. She’s really nervous about tonight.” Vince stated.

“Nervous? For what?” Jaden asked confused.

“Because tonight she is accompanying me to the ring.” Kane answered from behind them. Jaden and Taker both turned around, Jaden giving Kane a big hug then stepping back as the brothers said hello.

“How’s the knee?” Kane asked, like Vince, noticing the change in his brother immediately.

“Haven’t thought about it in days.” Taker said with a mischievous grin.

Jaden blushed when Taker winked at her and Kane grinned down at in a knowing way. She flushed even more when Vince laughed. Her eyes lit up when she saw Skyler walk through the lobby doors.

Skyler was a little peeved when she walked back in, having been almost stepped on and having to wait for a cab for over a half-hour. Also she was still very nervous about being in front of all those people in the arena and on TV. Needless to say she was not in the best of moods. She stomped into the lobby, not looking around, and headed straight for the elevators.

“Skyler!”

She heard someone call her name, but pretended to ignore it thinking it was Julie, as she walked closer to the elevators.

“Probably wants to cut more out of the costume.” She mumbled to herself.

“SKYLER!” the voice said with more urgency.

“WHAT?” Skyler snapped as she swung around. She stopped, her eyes growing wide when she saw Jaden standing a few feet away with Taker, Kane and her uncle.

“Oh my God!” she exclaimed as she rushed up to her friend throwing her arms around her. “What are you doing here?”

“Well, I work here now, silly!” Jaden laughed. “And I hear as of tonight, you will be working here also.”

Skyler groaned, “Don’t remind me! Every time I think about it I think I’m going to be sick! My nerves are killing me!” she exclaimed.

“You’ll be wonderful!” Jaden reassured her. “Everyone will love you!”

“Yeah, especially after they see the outfit I’m wearing.” Skyler said sarcastically, looking directly at her uncle, who threw up his hands and walked away laughing.

Chapter Sixty Two

Taker and Jaden, and Skyler and Kane stayed in the hotel lobby after Vince left, discussing Skyler’s debut that night and a few other things. They were all about to head up to their rooms, with plans to get to together later before the show when Vince walked up to them once again.

“Jaden, can you meet me in the conference room on the third floor in ten minutes. I want to introduce you to the some of the other wrestlers that are here and there are a few last minute things we have to go over to finalize your contract.” Vince said and then he turned to Skyler.

“If you don’t like the costumes, get together with Julie and have her alter them to your liking. We can push your debut back or drop it all together if you’re having second thoughts. Just let me know.” Vince stated as he smiled down at his niece, then continued.

“Okay, I’ll see you and Kane later. Jaden, ten minutes, third floor.” Then he rushed off to take care of some other last minute details.

Skyler and Kane said their good-byes to Taker and Jaden and then left to spend what little time they had together. Jaden and Taker headed towards the elevators to go meet with Vince.

They walked into the conference room and Jaden was shocked when she was greeted with a bevy of whistles and long stares from the men that filled the room. They were quickly silenced by the icy glare that Taker gave each and every one of them.

Vince walked through the door seconds later, followed by his son, Shane and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Taker’s eyes narrowed in anger when he saw the man he despised most of all. Taker watched as Steve looked Jaden up and down several times, then he walked up to the smaller man, bending until their faces were inches apart.

“You look at her like that again, and you’re going to wish you had been born without any eyes.” Taker growled his warning in a quiet, deadly voice.

Steve looked up at Taker with a smirk on his face, his blue eyes shining. Then he went and stood a ways off, letting it go for now, knowing that Taker would only be around until tomorrow. Shane had informed him of that on the way up. Steve glanced over at Jaden with a sly smile on his lips. One way or another, he was going to make her his.

Chapter Sixty Three

Later that evening, Taker and Jaden met back up with Kane and Skyler at the arena. Skyler was a bundle of nerves, having decided to go ahead with the costume and the debut. Taker was still steaming over Austin, although he tried to push it in the back of his mind. It didn't help that Austin seemed to be everywhere they were, leering at Jaden.

Kane noticed this too, and looked at his brother. "What's with him?" he asked in a low tone, when the girls were out of earshot.

"I don't know, but if he knows what's good for him, he'll keep his damn eyes to himself." Taker growled, glaring at Austin, who was following Jaden's every move with his eyes.

"I'll keep an eye on him until you get back." Kane said, also glaring at the man he despised. Austin was good a making enemies, and Taker and Kane were two of them.

Skyler also noticed the looks Austin was giving Jaden. "I think you have your own fan." she said to Jaden.

Jaden looked over her should, her eyes catching Austin's. "Oh great. I never did like him, even just watching wrestling. I don't think Taker likes him too much either." Jaden replied, glancing over at Taker who was still staring at Austin.

"Yeah, especially when Austin is undressing you with his eyes." Skyler mutter, knowing Austin could cause some serious problems. She glanced down at her watch and sighed.

"I have to go get ready." she said.

"Want me to come with you?" Jaden asked, knowing how nervous her friend was.

"PLEASE!" Skyler exclaimed with a shaky smile. The girls turned and told the guys they would see them later, and went off to get Skyler ready.

Once in her dressing room, Skyler unzipped the bag which held her costume. When Jaden saw it, her mouth dropped open.

"You’re wearing that?" she asked with wide eyes.

"Yup...lucky me." Skyler answered, eyes the costume which seemed to loose more and more material every time she looked at it.

Jaden burst out laughing and couldn't stop. Tears of laughter poured down her face. Skyler stood back looking at her friend.

"I'm glad you think this is so funny." she teased.

"I can! I'm not the one going out there half naked!" Jaden said still laughing.

"Oh great! Now I really want to do this." Skyler said as she sat down on the couch burying her head in her hands.

Jaden walked over to her friend and sat down beside her. "Don't worry about it. Very few people could pull that outfit off, and you are one of them. You will look wonderful!" Jaden said reassuringly.

"Yeah, well...you could wear it!" Skyler commented. "By the way, you have lost a lot of weight. Are you feeling okay?" she asked, having noticed how small her friend had gotten.

"Yeah I'm fine." Jaden answered, not meeting Skyler's eyes as she got up and took the costume out of the bag. "Come on, let's get you ready for your big debut!"

Chapter Sixty Four

Jaden sat on the couch in Skyler’s dressing room, while Skyler did her hair and make-up after having gotten into her costume. They made small talk at first, but before long, the conversation turned to the two men in their lives.

“So, how are things going for you and Kane?” Jaden asked, hoping it was as good between Skyler and Kane and it was with Taker and herself.

Skyler stopped what she was doing and turned to her friend, a radiant smile lighting her face. “It’s wonderful….He’s wonderful.” Skyler paused for a moment and then laughed. “Kane even went shopping with me the other day. I didn’t even have to ask him, he wanted to go.”

Jaden’s eyes widened in surprise, knowing how most men felt about shopping. “WOW! I think you better hang on to him.” She said sincerely, happy for her friend.

“And you and Take?” Skyler questioned, even though she already knew the answer to that.

“He’s amazing..” Jaden said softly, her eyes shining with happiness when she spoke about Taker. “I have never…” Jaden was cut off by a knock on the door.

“Can you get that?” Skyler asked as she put the finishing touches on her make-up.

“Sure.” Jaden answered as she stood, and then immediately sat back down again, putting her head down as the room began to spin. She took a deep breath, unaware that Skyler had turned around and was staring at her in concern.

Finally Jaden looked up at Skyler. Although her vision was blurred, Jaden could see the worry in Skyler’s eyes and forced a weak smile. “I better see who is at the door.” She said and stood slowly once again and walked over to the door. Pulling it open she found Kane and Taker on the other side.

“You’ve got about a minute, Sky.” Kane said as he walked into the room and saw her costume for the first time.

Chapter Sixty Five

Skyler didn’t pay any attention at first to Taker or Kane when they came in. All her attention was focused on Jaden who had lost all the color in her face. Skyler walked over to her, gently placing her hand on her arm.

“Are you okay?” she asked softly, the concern shining in her eyes.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just stood up too fast.” Jaden answered with a smile, not meeting anyone’s eyes.

“What happened?” Taker asked, looking down at Jaden.

“Nothing.” Jaden said with a forced smile.

“No, it’s not nothing!” Skyler cut in, then turned to Taker. “She almost fainted.”

“No I didn’t!” Jaden said with a fake laugh that sounded fake even to her. “I just got a little dizzy.”

“Jaden, what’s going on? This isn’t the first time this has happened.” Taker said, taking her in his arms, holding her close.

“It’s nothing really. I’m just tired, that’s all. Quit worrying you guys!” Jaden said, trying to give them a reassuring smile.

Kane, Taker and Skyler let it go for the time being, much to Jaden’s relief, but she knew she wasn’t going to be able to hide things for much longer.

“So, what do we think of our little Skyler’s costume?” Jaden asked with a smile, trying to get the attention off her.

Kane cleared his throat, trying to find his voice. “That’s what you’re wearing down to the ring?” he asked, not liking the idea very much.

Taker looked at Skyler, taking in her outfit for the first time. “Whoa!” he said.

Skyler blushed and looked down at herself. She had on skin tight black leather pants that hugged her hips, dipping down low in the front, showing off the belly button ring she had gotten over a year ago, but never really flaunted...until now.

She had opted for the pants instead of the shorts that were supposed to have been worn. The shorts were even worse, and Skyler knew she was going to need some time to get used to this outfit before she wore that.

Her top, also black leather, was a halter top. Her stomach and back were completely bare, and the top itself was very low cut, not covering her nearly as much as she would like. She had bikinis with more material.

Her hair was flowing past her shoulders, a little bigger that what she was used to. And the makeup! She had on so much makeup she was sure she would need a sandblaster to get it off! With her eyes painted almost black and the dark lipstick, she felt like one of the Godfather’s Ho’s.

Topping the outfit off were her black leather boots. Skyler only hoped she would be able to walk to the ring in them. Being 5’8, she never had to worry about being short, therefore never really wore heels much. With the boots, she was pushing 6’.

“Well, what do you guys think? Am I WWF material?” she asked, grinning at them, beginning to get excited instead of nervous.

Chapter Sixty Six

“Definitely WWF material!” Jaden exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement for her friend.

“Well, I don’t like it!” Kane stated, his hands on his hips as three heads whipped around and gaped at him. Then Taker threw his head back, roaring with laughter.

“What’s the matter little brother? Do I sense a little jealousy when you think of all the people who will be staring at Skyler’s gorgeous body?” Taker teased, and then ducked down when Kane moved to punch his arm. Kane stood back. Glaring at his brother, who was looking back at him, still laughing.

Kane glanced up at the clock on the wall. “It’s show time.” He said as she looked over at Skyler, who was no one bit nervous. She was, in fact, very excited.

Skyler rushed over to Kane’s side, a huge smile in place on her face. “Alright, let’s go!!” She exclaimed as she and Kane walked out the door and headed for the arena entrance.

Jaden moved to follow them, wanting to see Skyler’s debut, but was stopped by Taker’s hand on her arm as he gently turned her around to face him.

“We need to talk, Jaden.” He said softly as he looked down into her eyes.

“About what?” She asked, event though she knew. Then she quickly grabbed his hand, pulling him towards the door. “Come on! I want to go watch Skyler.” She said before Taker had a chance to say anything else…

Taker sighed and followed Jaden, wanting to see Skyler too, but also wanting to get to the bottom of what was wrong with Jaden. He decided to put it off for now, but later before he left, they were having a serious conversation.

Jaden walked up to the monitor, watching as Kane’s opponent The Godfather and his Ho’s made their way to the ring. She glanced up at Taker who was looking from the monitor to Skyler and grinning.

“What are you thinking?” Jaden asked suspiciously.

Taker looked down at her, still smiling. “I was just thinking that in that outfit, Skyler would make a perfect Ho for the Godfather!”

Jaden’s mouth dropped open in shock that he had said that, then looked over at Skyler. She slapped her hand over her mouth, trying to contain the laughter that was threatening to escape. She had to admit to herself, Taker was right.

*****

Kane followed Skyler to the curtain, waiting for his music. He didn’t miss the looks the other wrestlers were giving her, and gritted his teeth to keep from saying anything.

Skyler looked up at the monitor, looking at the crowd. Her heart was pounding, not from fear as she thought it would be, but from anticipation. She knew Kane was fighting the Godfather, who was already down at the ring with his Ho’s.

Suddenly, Kane’s music filled the arena. Skyler suddenly worried how the crowd would accept her. She glanced over at Kane, knowing that besides his character having befriended X-Pac, who had recently betrayed him, he was pretty much a loner. She crossed her fingers hoping the fans would accept her accompanying him to the ring.

“Let’s go.” Kane said near her ear, causing her to jump and snap out of her thoughts.

Putting on her best seductive smile, which the other females there had told her men would eat up, she followed Kane. Together, they walked through the curtain after the pyro exploded and began walking down the ramp.
