Pelé viu a bola. A bola não desviou o olhar. Um caso de amor à primeira vista, que começou num quintal de Três Corações. Houve juras de amor eterno, de fidelidade e cumplicidade. Juras e promessas cumpridas à risca. Uma ou outra briga? Claro que houve. Nada sério Sempre formaram o casal perfeito, de causar inveja e arrancar suspiros, ora de admiração, ora de ciúme.

No início, um amor de criança, sem maldade. Depois, a paixão. Os dois a correr pelo campo verde de todos os estádios do mundo, mãos dadas, entrelaçadas, driblando os obstáculos, dificuldades e inimigos. Geralmente, ela ia à frente dele, obediente, rolando macia com efeitos de arte. Arte do mais admirável traço. Arte feita em curvas e retas desenhadas à mão livre. Perspectiva em obra prima constuída através de cálculos complicados e equações que nós mortais seríamos incapazes de resolver. E Pelé resolvia sem ajuda externa. Pura inspiração, puro instinto. Assuntos dos genios.
