The Wings took home their first win with a 4-0 victory in front of an Easter Sunday crowd of 4,788 at Frontier. The story of the game was the solid Wings pitching. Ponson made his first ever AAA start, as he spent last season with the Baysox. He pitched five shutout innings allowing only four hits and he escaped a bases loaded jam. Kelley, another former Baysox player, pitched four shutout innings earning the save.
Moore started for Buffalo, he lasted five innings allowing three hits. He did have control problems as he gave up four walks and hit one. The Wings scored two in the fourth, including a run scored on a sacrifice fly by Lydy (it looked to be too short of a fly, but luckily the throw was poor). In the sixth the Wings also scored two runs, the blow coming with the bases loaded, as Greene drove in two with a hit.
It was an impressive effort by the Wings and they will go back at it Tuesday against the PawSox. There is a ticket discount if you bring in socks and they will be donated.
