Irabu came back with a much stronger pitching performance this time around as the Clippers beat on the Wings by the score of 7-0 in front of 16,952 fans at Cooper Stadium. Irabu went seven innings allowing three hits and striking out four while walking one. The Wings did manage to steal two bases on him (which is not bad when you consider they got four men on base) so Irabu still has some problems there. Coppinger went five innings allowing four runs and Johns was responsible for the other three. The three homers for Columbus spurred them on to the rout.
The Wings will hope to rebound tomorrow in Columbus. Pawtucket nipped Scranton so they shaved one game off the Wings lead to cut it to 5 1/2. On a somewhat unrelated note, Jeff Manto was called up from Buffalo to Cleveland. Certainly great news as he has been superb in Buffalo and I wish him the best up there!
