What a difference a ballpark makes, after getting dominated in McCoy the Wings returned home to take a 5-2 decision in front of an overflow crowd of 12,151. The Wings offense all came in the fifth. Davis, Waszgis and Otanez had basehits and Forbes reached on an error (bringing in the first run). Then Matos came up and hit his first ever professional grand slam to give the Wings the 5-0 lead. The PawSox did get two unearned runs off of Rodriguez and Bennett came on to earn his first save of the year.
This important win increases the lead to five games. Matos's homer occured during the Xerox Grand Slam inning so Matos and a fan get to split $10,000. The Wings called up a starter from Bowie and he will replace Ramirez in the rotation as Ramirez will return to the pen. With this win the Wings attendance now stands at over 447,000, breaking the Wings all-time attendance record! The Wings finish the two game series against the PawSox tomorrow.
