This game can pretty much describe the amazing amount of heart and character this club has. The game was delayed until 10:04pm due to rain and that was when the first pitch was thrown. The Wings were up 5-3 going into the eighth (Clyburn homered) and between the eighth and ninth the Mud Hens put seven runs on the board as Shouse had a rough outing. At this point it was 10-5. Then the Wings once again rallied....
The Wings put three on the board to make it 10-8 and the Hens changed pitchers. Hernandez blew the first two pitchs past Tim Laker to get the Wings down to their final strike with men on second and third. Laker then eventually doubled at 12:56am showing great patience in that situation and Tommy Davis then singled at 12:58am to give the Wings the win!
Shouse earned the win, despite it being his worst outing in a long while. The Wings had a paid crowd of 9,175 (a surprising amount were around for the start of the game after 10) making the 500,000 mark very much in reach (barring no rain outs). A night that won't soon be forgotten and once again we are left amazed by the Wings late innings heroics! The magic number is cut to five as the PawSox did win tonight. The series continues tomorrow at Frontier.
