Wings Lose And Move Into A First Place Tie

If you visit this page on a regular basis you know I don't usually headline my game recaps, but I simply could not resist this one! It does not happen regularly, but it did tonight. The Wings went down 4-3 to the Barons in Scranton but still moved into a tie via a Norfolk sweep over the PawSox in the doubleheader! The Wings tied it up and then took the lead (6th then 8th) thanks to Jim Wawruck homeruns coming in those innings. Unfortunately, the relievers could not close the game out. Bennett was in and got into trouble in the eighth. Shouse then came in and got two outs, but then Foley changed him up for Steph as he favored the matchup. Unfortunately, he did not get the job done as two runs then came in (both Bennetts) and Heflen came on and saved the game for the Barons.

Schrenk started today and pitched very well for the Wings and got a no decision. The Wings return home for a two day three game series against the Lynx. Tomorrow they play a doubleheader and then Monday they finish of the series. Then the Wings get two days off for the All Star break in Des Moines, Iowa before coming back home for two games. After that the Wings embark on a long road trip with games in Syracuse, Richmond and Charlotte.
