Unfortunately, the nightmare April, May and early June have probably killed any chances of the Wings making a wildcard run. With that said, they are playing far better ball now (hopefully I won't jinx things, check the editorial date and see if a losing streak starts, if so, it is my fault!).
The Wings have closed off an outstanding July by anyones standards. The hitting has come around and I think you can count on the Wings being pretty potent offensively for the rest of the season. The pitching has improved. Players are coming back from injuries, and some starters are coming into their own. While the bullpen continues to be a bit of a question, Corsi and Molena have provided a good relief punch of late and have held leads. A few other relievers are coming into their own also.
I think we'll see an above .500 August also. The Wings need to average about 9,000 a game to draw 500,000 fans. They have done it easily during August in past years, and lets make sure it happens again. So come out and see a much improved, young team play some exciting ball (many of which we'll see next year). There are quite a few August dates this year (for once). It may not be for a playoff spot (though we can hope), but the Wings are closing in on our Thurway rivals to the west!
