Rochester: 3 Columbus: 1

The Wings took a two to one series lead with a 3-1 win in front of 4,261 fans who braved the rain at Frontier. The game was delayed for about 25 minutes and the game saw rain pretty constantly. The Wings got on the board first as Jim Wawruck drove in a run with a deep fly ball to left field in the second. In the third PJ Forbes extended the lead to 2-0, with a homerun going into the Columbus bullpen. Columbus then cut the lead in half thanks to a Homer Bush infield hit, but the Wings got it back in the bottom of the inning with Willis Otanez going deep to left center to make it 3-1.

The lead remained that as Pavlas pitched seven solid innings allowing only one run and Bennett was perfect the rest of the way earning the save. Also, the Wings received some good defense (though they also had two errors). Perhaps the most impressive was Peguero's diving play in center. This win means the Wings are only one game away from the championship with a 2-1 series lead. The weather tomorrow is forecasted to be very positive and there will be a fireworks show after the game win or lose so hopefully there will be a very nice crowd out at Frontier tomorrow.
