BERWICK FALL IN DINGWALL
Ross County 2; Berwick Rangers 0

Ross County kept up with the pace at the top of the Third Division with a comfortable 2-0 victory over managerless Berwick at Victoria Park, Dingwall.
Goals from Scott Ferguson and Tom Callaghan secured the points to leave County in second place after six matches. The game also marked the return of central defender Billy Herd, who made his first appearance of the season.
Herd added some steel and grit to the heart of the County defence and played after missing the opening eight league and cup matches through a mixture of suspension, injury (achilles tendon) and holiday(!).
Herd said: "It's good to be back and I am glad that I was given the chance to play."

BERWICK AND COUNTY PLAY A STALEMATE
Berwick Rangers 0; Ross County 0

Ross County have "keeper Nicky Walker to thank for their point against a spirited Berwick side. The two sides are as geographically apart as you can get in the Third Division, but it was the home side who had the upper hand for much of the game.
Last season the sides had participated in an eleven goal thriller, and after County's goal spree last Saturday one might have expected a few goals this time round. The only "strike of the match" came when Walton had the ball in the net only for joys to be extinguished for off-side by the wee Rangers striker.

COUNTY DISAPPOINT ON THE EVE OF CUP REPLAY
Ross County 0; Berwick Rangers 0

Ross County produced one of their worst performances of the season against Berwick Rangers. All talk of doing well against Airdrie in next week’s cup replay is little more than hot air if this performance is anything to go by.
All the plaudits must go to Berwick for their spirited performance and it was only the brilliance of home ‘keeper Nicky Walker that kept County in the hunt for a single point. Forward Charlie King - on loan from St Johnstone was the only player who reached anything like the standard that will be expected of the promotion hopefuls in the coming weeks.
Adams came closest for County in the first half but a score at this stage would have been against the run of play. In the second half Berwick had the best chances but a fine Walker save from Walton denied the visitors the lead. Steve Ferguson created the best chance of the game in the dying moments but his final shot was well saved by the goalkeeper.
One worrying point for County was the early departure of Neil Tarrant with what looked like a nasty injury early in the first half.

ROSS COUNTY LOSE VITAL PROMOTION POINTS
Berwick Rangers 1; Ross County 1

Ross County lost some headway in the race for the title when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Berwick. Their rivals for promotion, Alloa Athletic and Arbroath, both won to open up a clear gap.
County played well throughout the match and were unfortunate not to take all three points. However, their task was made harder when they lost Kenny Gilbert who was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
County could have taken the lead early in the first half when Connor Campbell came close on three occasions. But the young striker failed to finish off some fine lead up play.
Ross County did open the scoring in the 29th minute when Connor Campbell was brought down in the box. Steve Ferguson coolly slotted the spot kick.
Within minutes of the start of the second half Gilbert was ordered off. This made Ross County’s task all the more difficult but throughout the second period they defended in an organised manner.
Both sides hit the woodwork, Gerry Farrell was the unlucky County player, before Forrester scored from close range to give Berwick the equaliser.
County were absorbing a lot of Rangers’ pressure and looked dangerous on the break. They had a chance to seal victory and three points when the home ‘keeper was forced to make an excellent save from Mark Haro
