In the Inverness and District Under-21 League, Ross County had a comfortable 4-0 win over Elgin City. In an entertaining match County fielded a young side bolstered by some first team squad players.
David Ross opened the scoring when he headed home a Steven MacKay corner, and this was followed by a Gary Nicol goal when he took advantage of a defensive lapse.
The second half saw County increase their lead through a Gary Nicol penalty after Connor Campbell was brought down, and just before the final whistle substitute Martin Sanderson was on hand to make the score 4-0 after a John Fraser free kick had been saved.
Under-21 games like these give youngsters a chance to show what they can do, as well as giving valuable match practice to one or two first team "regulars" and those on the fringe.
On this occasion, players to catch the eye were Steven MacKay and Martin Canning whose performances showed why they have featured in first team squads on occasions this season.

Matches have resumed in the Inverness and District Under-21 league after the winter shutdown. Ross County fielded a few of their young players along with some first teamers requiring match practice.
On a rain sodden pitch, County pressed early on and there some close things around the Elgin goal.
Defender Steven Edwards came close with a header from a corner, and then Steven MacKay shot just past from the edge of the box.
At the other end Elgin's Blackhall had their best effort with a header.
However County had most of the possession with Roy McBain and Michael Geraghty both coming close to scoring on a couple of occasions as half time approached.
The second half was following a similar pattern to the first with McBain coming close twice in as many minutes, his second effort striking the bar.
In 65 minutes County opened the scoring. Kevin Finlayson was fouled outside the box, and Steven MacKay stepped up to send a 25 yard free kick into the net, a deflection deceiving the keeper.
Finlayson had a shot saved by the keeper, then Geraghty headed a Finlayson corner against the post.
McBain finally got his reward with a close-in effort in 80 minutes to make it 2-0.
Edwards almost scored with a header from a Finlayson corner, but in 87 minutes substitute Ryan Rutherford touched in a MacKay corner to make it 3-0.
Just on full time, it was almost four, when a cross from the left by MacKay found Finlayson in space but his shot was blocked.
