COUNTY STRUGGLE WITHOUT GETHINS
Kilmarnock U-18 4; ROSS COUNTY U-18 1

Ross County's Under-18 side made the long trip to Ayrshire, but came up against a Kilmarnock team who took their chances. County were without top scorer Conor Gethins who wason first team duty.

In a fairly tight first half, County seemed to be holding their own, but two goals in as many minutes on the half hour mark gave Killie a 2-0 half time lead.

In the 55th minute Killie had a chance to extend their lead from the penalty spot but the County 'keeper Shearer brought off a splendid save and gave his team mates some inspiration. In the 65th minute BLACKLEY made it 1-2 when he converted a penalty after Young had been brought down.

County were forced to re-shape when defender Bolochoweckyj had to retire with a head injury and Killie took advantage in the 70th minute when a corner was poorly defended and a a Killie striker had a free header on goal.

County never gave up, but ten minutes from time a mistake in defence allowed the home side to seal the game with a fourth goal.

Ross County U-18 XI: Shearer; Crilly, Bolochoweckyj (Nicholl), Wilson, Trialist (Guild), Campbell, Blackley, Keldie, Young, Duncanson (McAskill) and Jack.

A LATE STRIKE DENIES COUNTY
ROSS COUNTY U-18 XI 1; Kilmarnock U-18 XI 1

A late goal from Kilmarnock denied Ross County a win in their SPL Under-18 fixture in Dingwall.

Killie had been the more dominant in the early stages, but County took the lead after 25 minutes their TRIALIST striker finished well from a tight angle after good play down the left.

Killie had the chance to equalise just before half time when they were awarded a penalty. But the spot kick came off the post and the rebound was blasted wide.

Again in the second half Kilmarnock had more possession and forced County to defend well.

It seemed that the home side would hold on but with less than five minutes remaining the visitors drew level.

County lost possession in attack and this led to a long ball catching the defence napping and 'keeper Shearer was forced into a headed clearance which was volleyed back into the empty net.

Just before the full time whistle Shearer pulled off an excellent save to prevent Killie going home with all three points.

Ross County U-18 XI: Shearer; Nicholl, Wilson, Bolochoweckyj, Gibson, Campbell, Blackley, Maxwell, Young, Trialist-1 (Trialist-2) and Jack. Unused Subs: Hill, Keldie, Dunnett and T Wilson.
