He gets support by Terry Huston (McElhone) from the health department, who suspects that a virus is responsible for the deaths. Finally these two find a common fact linking all the victims: the all have logged into a website called Fear.com, and in all cases their computer has been destroyed. Anybody who visited the site died within 48 hours. One of the suspects is Alistair Pratt (Stephen Rhea) aka “The Doctor”, who is broadcasting the moment of death of the victims at the website. But the two investigators have doubt that Pratt is really a killer....

Jeff on Paralax: "...The former title FearDotCom was changed  because of legal problems. Now it is called Parallax. It is a bit like “The Cell” meets “What lies Beneath”. Stephen Dorff plays a detective who cannot forget a case that he never could solve. On the other hand I play a cop who doesn’t care about anything. A good cop, but somehow worn out by the system and bad experiences. Stephen I went along fine and learned a lot from each other. This movie was a big chance for me to try something new. My friend Bill Malone sent me an e-mail and asked me if I wanted to have this role. I knew Bill already before we made “House on Haunted Hill” from the series “Perversion of Sciences”. ..."
