HISTORY: Alexander Dachs was born the son of an infamous Federation ambassador who defected to Romulus before they reopened their borders. His father, also an ambassador, was recalled from the Tzenkethi homeworld to secure his wife but failed, then went into voluntary exile when the family's good name was tarnished by her betrayal.

Alex's future looked bleak until he was awarded a scholarship to a prestigious private school on Earth, which he attended until the age of twenty. After graduation he decided to try to enter Starfleet and was accepted, but only after careful psychological screening due to his mother's defection.

Because of the Dominion threat he opted to undergo a special, highly specific and intensive combat training course instead of the normal Starfleet officer training routine. He graduated top of his class and Starbase 565 was his first assignment from the Academy.
