  • 1. General Philosophy
  • This is an added value for both business people and consumers that wish to have more contacts and buying power respectively. It is a TAX FREE method to trade goods and services in your own community for everyday need items and skills and sevices that are not normally marketable.

  • 2. Features and Benefits
  • Benefit to Businesses -
  • Items that you provide as services can be offered at a discount payable in system credits to get all the clients within the system through your door.
  • The system doesn't allow cheaters - an accurate summary is always available for your reconciliation in your account.
  • Any combination of real dollars and system credits is acceptable in what ever ratio you choose (We recommend that this is a specific ratio of you net profit rather than your cost / profit - our system moderators can suggest how to gear this to being most effective). see the Features Page

Benefit to Consumers / Buyers -
  • Sttretches yor dollar - Items that you normally buy are available at a discount
  • You can contribute your creative talents to earn benefit in system credits. see 'What can I Offer?' for contibution suggestions.
  • An honest way to extend your buying power, reduce you tax ratio and the potential gain most of the clients within the network as repeat customers.
  • Any credits earned can be used for discounts by providers in the membership.

For a full Features List, follow this link for full listing.

  • 3. How it works - One for One
  • If you have something to offer and something in the community that you normally buy, you may be prequalified to apply as a member.

Think of the system credits as 'Canadian Tire Money' (without the fixed 3 percent) and about how everyone accepts it for its value.

    Here is a
clear example in community that works.

See this 'What can I Offer?' page for suggestions of what you may decide to offer.

  • 4. Acceptance in the community
  • 1. Our model starts small with a few participants, most of u hae been trading with each other for years (Individuals and businesses that understand clearly how the system works and how fair & cheatproof it is) and we extend it one person or one business at a time through word of mouth.
    2. We maintain an ideal ratio of goods & services provided to goods & services consumed.
    3. Absolute value is maintained by the goods and / or services provider. Each individual determines the amount or percentage of credits attached to the real Federal dollars in each transaction or deal.
    4. Every transaction is registered by our administrators on the master database and followed up by submitting a copy the actual paper transaction (in the same format as a duplicate cheque). The status of the individual can be verified by printed list or up to date 'online' listing at PETRHub.com. This way it is always a 'win-win' process and no one can cheat.
    5. System Audit is done internally once per month (from the 15th to the 15th) sa that after your rent, utilities and phone are paid - you still have some buying power.
    6. Business participants are identified by the 'PETR - Community Image' logo sticker on the front window or door of their establishment.
    6. Access online is limitted only to the individual members' profile page to list their offers and wants and how they will ratio their payment

  • 5. Why should I become involved?
  • If you feel you have a skill to offer the community (or even to offer your friends) here is a way to earn some benefit from that skill without the additional expense to the person to which you are offering it.
  • The whole world operates on a monitary (money) system with it's complicated and varied exchange rates. THick of this as you own community 'money' to be earned and spent without government interference or taxes.
  • Involvement in community groups comes with a resposibility to your community. This is a way to extend your resources and outlets that may NOT require spending more time.

  • 6. How does Canadian Tire generate the loyalty they do?
  • When you recieve the Canadian Tire **2 'Funny Money' coupons, do you throw them away? Of course not. This is how the marketing geniuses get you to come back into their store - just one of their tools to generate loyalty.

Even if you don't regularly shop at the store yourself, you will give you coupons away to someone that will use them rather than throw them away.

With the PETR system, you are creating loyalty to your whole community rather than just one store (and most prices will be better than Walmart. (

  • 15. Environmental Section for Source / Re-use / Recycling of materials as Commodities.
  • Many materials other than the normal recling stream items collected by our municipal waste system can also be traded as commodities.
Some individuals specialize in collecting this scrap for reuse / recycling or even fund raising (such as a paper drive or can drive). These individuals will be listed under 'commodities processor' with the material they specified. This may include obsolete computer parts, software, bulk uniform boxes, tin cans of a particular size, etc.
For a specific example, tin cans of a certain size can be a project for cub scouts or girl guides who may be learning how to measure and hese items can be collected and picked up at the meeting hall on the meeting night. A price per unit is usually offered by the member in cash but this may also be extended to the trading community as a fund raiser where the waste material is only paid in system credits (and at a higher rate). The member would then convert the savings into a donation to the community group in real cash (unless the group leader can see a benifit of the group having a membership). (

  • 16. Have you decided to join us?
  • If you can qualify yourself because you have something to offer, click on this link to the application questionaire for 10 short questions and some contact information so that we can issue you a membership 'handle' and pin number.

This will be a link to the cgi-bin.

Not convinced yet - - That's OK. Take your time to review all the page links - especially the 'what to offer' list. In order to make the system work, everyone needs to be a trader and have something to sell or offer in services. (

    A Detailed Trading Example

Here is a clear example in community that works.

The following scenario is a short example of circulation of credits within the system:

A pizza delivery driver decides to allow a 1$ discount in system credits for each delivery to members. He makes 10 deliveries to members earning 10$ in total from his deliveries. He decides to negotiate with his babysitter to pay $4 per hour ($3 in real dollars and 1$ in system credits). This amounts to a total of 4$ for his 4 hour delivery shift.
Hr also decides to spend 6$ in credits the next day (his day off) as a discount for labour to change his guitar strings at the music store - bonus.

The Tech at the music store decides to have lunch and spends 3$ in system credits at the pizza place because it is close by.

The baby sitter is going out with her boyfriend (and another couple because she or her boyfriend doesn't have a car) to a movie. After the movie they all decide to go for pizza and she offers her credits as part payment for the pizza (her contribution to the evening).

The pizza shop offers 1$ in system credits to the member driver as a bonus for each delivery. This encourages all drivers to become members and use their credits to purchase cold drinks at cost out of the machine at the pizza shop (3 for the price of 2 by exchanging a real dollar for a system dollar as an employee or sub-contractor, at the end of the shift

Another day, the music store owner decides to buy lunch for all the staff and spends 10$ in system credits that have been accumulated for discounts given. The pizza store is happy to have this business because the order totals more than $60 in real business.

The pizza driver is willing to recommend the baby sitter to other service people because she is reliable and understands the value of negotiation in the exchange system.

The baby sitter is more thn willing to promote this system to her friends because it is an honest way to stretch her good wil in the community and among her friends.

The credits are just as valuable as real money and as easy to understand as Canadian Tire Money. **2
