Formally trained as a scientist (BSc), the author has much experience as a design and support technician to industry, many questions have been raised. Here are just some of the passions that I have been uncovered.

What kind of a scientific project is Einstein@Home?

Discovery of our world is an endless process. We must be responsible to mange a balanced world rather than continue to abuse and polute our environment. This is what the real scientists are trying to inspire.

Why should you get involved in this research?
Science is an ongoing process that helps us to identify and solve problems where we live. Effects and observations of our whole universe are an important part of understanding how these far away events affect what is going on here at home. We may even discover one of the keys to the current warming trends of the earth.

It involves a level of trust in the real scientists that are doing the research. It is hosted on secure servers of the highest intergrity (it has to be almost perfect or the results would be questionable).

You can contribute!
You don't have to be a scientist or even understand the research that is being done. The Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) is a reputable and trusted background application that runs on your computer when you are not using it (your machine has to stay running of course).

You have your own login ID that allows you to control how and when the data is received and how much room it will use on your hard disk.

You can get more information about how the system works and becoming involved - click here.
The 'credit' you will receive will give you an indication of how big some of these projects really are. after all, this is a global community and you can choose to participate in projects in which you may have some interest.
Of course, I would like to invite you join Einstein@Home and join our team in honour of the late Dr. Carl Sagan - astonomer and 'visionary extraordinaire'.

If you would like to get started, click here to select the download for your operating system (I recommend version 6.2.19 as it is the most stable for Windows).
After you download, installing the software will ask you to create an account and attach to a project (using the link http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu if you have decided to join Einstein@Home project) or you can select from the list at http://boinc.berkeley.edu and select from the project list.
