NOTE: This is dedicated to my three favorite characters from Guiding Light...Jenna Bradshaw, Buzz Cooper, and Harley Cooper. Sure, one of the characters has left the show, but I miss her very much. - R.I.P Jenna Bradshaw!
This will take place in the 1993-1994 year so all my favorite and not so favorite characters (Nadine Cooper, Roger Thorpe...I miss him too. - R.I.P. Michael Zaslow...and Julie Camaletti) will be in Springfield.
Scene 1
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Night
Buzz Cooper was closing up the diner. Nadine Cooper came out of the back room and went behind the counter. She looked at Buzz with her pouty face and began cleaning off the counter with a cloth. Once she was finished, she picked up her coat and headed for the door.
Buzz: Nadine...
Nadine: (trying not to cry) I'll be fine, Buzz. I'm just going to Frank and Eleni's.
She left and Buzz sat down in one of the boothes in the dark and empty diner. He knew that Jenna was waiting for him at the Firehouse and that Nadine was still very upset about him putting Jenna before his own family.
He rested his hands on his head. Someone tapped on the glass at the front entrance. Buzz got up and walked to the door.
Buzz: We're closed.
He saw a familiar face and unlocked the door. It was his beautiful older daughter, Harley Cooper Mallet (Camaletti), who paid him an unexpected visit.
Harley: Hey, dad.
Buzz: What are you doing back in Springfield? Where's my son-in-law?
Harley: Well, dad, Mallet and I sort of, well, temporarily...separated.
Buzz: What did he do? I'll break his neck.
Harley: We just had a little fight, dad.
Buzz: Are you planning on staying in Springfield...indefinately?
Harley: I don't know. Is mommy doing okay?
Buzz: Your mother is fine. She's just mad at me right now.
Harley: What happened?
Buzz: Oh, honey, it's a long story.
Harley: Does it have anything to do with Jenna Bradshaw?
Buzz: Yes.
Harley: Dad, she hurt you so much. How could you let her back into your life?
Buzz: I don't know. I'm crazy about her... (brief pause) Harley, I've had a hard day. Can we talk about this tomorrow?
Harley: Okay. Where's mommy?
Buzz: She's at Frank and Eleni's.
Harley: Good. I wanted to see Frank. (hugs Buzz) I love you, dad.
Buzz: I love you too.
Harley left the diner.
Buzz picked up his jacket and closed the diner.
Scene 2
INT. Frank and Eleni's -Night
Frank and Nadine sat in the living room. Eleni came from upstairs and joined them.
Eleni: I finally got Marina asleep.
Frank: Mom, are you okay?
Nadine: I'm worried about Buzz. I'm so afraid that Jenna is going to hurt him again.
There was a knock at the door. Frank answered.
Frank: Hey, sis!
He hugged Harley and she peeked her head inside.
Harley: Hi, mommy.
Nadine: Harley!
She let go of Frank and hugged Nadine and then she hugged Eleni.
Nadine: What are you doing back so soon?
Harley: It's a long story.
Frank: I didn't see Mallet. Did he come with you?
Harley: No, Mallet and I split up.
Nadine: What happened, sweety?
Harley: Well, Mallet wasn't coming home till late every night and he told me he was working overtime. I don't get to spend time with him anymore. We got into a fight about it the other night and I accused him of cheating on me. So, I packed my things and came back to Springfield.
Nadine: Do you have a place to stay?
Harley: Yes.
Frank: You know you are always welcome to stay with us.
Harley: Frank, you are the best big brother in the world and I love you.
Frank: I love you too, sis.
Harley: I should get myself settled back into this town.
Nadine: All right, sweety. Call me later.
Harley: Okay, mommy, but you don't have to worry.
She left Frank and Eleni's house and headed for home.
Scene 3
INT. The Firehouse - Night
Buzz came through the front door and was about to turn on the lights when he saw candles lit in the kitchen. Jenna hurried out of the kitchen and into Buzz's arms. They shared a kiss.
Buzz: What's all this?
Jenna: I have a surprise for you. Come on.
She tugged on Buzz and led him to the kitchen area. On the table there was fetuccini alfreto and 1984 burgandy wine.
Buzz: You are so full of surprises, aren't you?
He kissed her.
Buzz pulled out her chair and she sat down. He then bent down and kissed her neck gently.
Buzz: (sitting down) Why don't we skip dinner and go straight for desert?
Jenna: (smiling) That would be nice.
They leaned across the table and kissed.
Buzz: (still kissing her) Do you want to move to the couch?
Jenna: That's fine, but...
Buzz: (moving toward the couch) Tell you what, I'll make the bed up and...
He tripped over the bed which Jenna had already pulled out.
Jenna: (laughing) Oh, Buzz. Are you all right?
Buzz: I'm okay. Just a little stunned.
Jenna walked over to the bed. Buzz grabbed her and pulled her onto the bed. They kissed passionately.
There was a giggling noise at the door and Buzz got up cautiously.
Buzz: You stay here. It might be Thorpe.
Jenna: Be careful.
Buzz grabbed one of the sheets and went to the door. It opened and Buzz put the sheet over the mysterious intruder.
Jenna ran and got her gun out of the dresser drawer. She held it up and pointed it at who she thought was Roger.
Harley: Hey, it's me!
Buzz pulled the sheet off to reveal Harley.
Buzz: (puzzled) Harley, what are you doing here?
Harley: Dad, I live here, remember?
Buzz: No, Jenna lives here. You said it was okay for her to stay here, remember?
Harley: Yes I did, but I thought that Mallet and I would live happily ever after and that didn't happen, did it?
Buzz: Aw, honey, I'm sorry. (hugs her) You can stay here as long as you want.
Jenna gave Buzz a displeasing look.
Jenna: (sarcastically) That's great. Why don't we all live here together like one big happy family.
Harley: I could go stay with Frank and Eleni.
Buzz: No, stay here.
Jenna's jaw dropped and she turned her back away from him.
Buzz: Harley...
Harley: Dad, it's okay. I wanted to talk to mommy a little bit more. I'll be fine. I love you, daddy. (hugs Buzz) Bye, Jenna.
Harley left.
Buzz: I know what you're going to say...
Jenna: Buzz, you'll never change. Family always comes first. Not me, not us...
Buzz: I love you, sweetheart. (brief pause) You know, I could have insisted she stay here and not go to Frank's.
Jenna was beginning to smile, but turned away instead. Buzz approached Jenna, he faced her, and took both her hands.
Buzz: Jenna, you mean more to me then life itself. I would die for you. You are a precious jewel that should be protected and loved. You have possessed me with your beauty and I am 100% in love with you, Ms. Bradshaw.
Jenna: (deep breath) I love you too, Mr. Cooper.
They shared a kiss, he picked her up, and like Prince Charming, carried her to the bed where they made love.
Scene 4
INT. Firehouse - Morning
Jenna woke up and found Buzz putting on his clothes and getting ready to leave.
Jenna: Buzz?
Buzz: Good morning, Petula.
He sat on the bed and gave her kisses.
Jenna: Where are you off to this early?
Buzz: It's a surprise.
He grabbed his jacket and left. Jenna got curious, put on her clothes, and went out the door.
INT. Spaulding Enterprises - Morning
Lucy sat at her desk and was typing on her computer. Alan-Michael came in through the elevator.
Alan-Michael: Good morning, Lucy. Have you found the missing file yet?
Lucy: Almost... (she did a few clicks on the computer) There, found it.
Alan-Michael: Good. So, what are you doing for lunch today?
Lucy: Well, I thought I'd stop by the diner and...
Alan-Michael: Would you like to have lunch with me?
Lucy: (smiled) Okay, sure.
Alan-Michael: Good. I'll take you to Company.
Lucy: Okay.
Alexandra stormed out of her office.
Alexandra: I can't believe it. I can't believe it! He's done it again!
Lucy: Who?
Alexandra: Lucy, don't you know anything?
Alan-Michael: Aunt Alex, what's going on?
Alexandra: It's Roger Thorpe! He wants to take this company away from us again.
Alan-Michael: He can't do that, Aunt Alex. We won the company back in court.
Alexandra: I know that, but that man has something up his sleeve.
Scene 5
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Day
Buzz was in the back fixing up the surprise for Jenna. Frank was behind the counter waiting for the costumers to arrive. Eleni came into the diner with Nadine.
Frank: Hi, honey.
He gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Eleni: Where's Buzz?
Frank: He's in the back room.
Eleni: Well, we don't have any costumers yet.
Jenna came through the door and sat at the counter.
Frank: Hello, Jenna.
Jenna: Hi. Has, uh, Buzz been here?
Frank: Yeah, he's in the back room, but don't go back there.
Jenna: All right.
Nadine: Do you have any other places to go?
Jenna: No, but I can take a hint.
Nadine: Why don't you go back to Roger or where ever the hell you came from.
Jenna: Why don't you keep your nose out of other people's buisness? (to Frank) Could I have a cup of tea?
Nadine: We're not open yet.
Jenna: Then why does the sign say, 'We're Open' out there?
Nadine: I want you to leave now.
Jenna: Nadine, whether you like it or not, I'm apart of your ex's life. And he loves me very much.
Nadine: Well, all that is going to change once he finds out who you really are.
Jenna: And who am I, Nadine?
Buzz came from out of the back room and saw Jenna.
Buzz: Jenna, what are you doing here?
EXT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Day
A mysterious person in a black coat looked through the window at them. Harley was approaching the diner and the person hid from her.
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Day
Harley: Hi, guys. (looks at a pouty Nadine) Mom, are you okay?
Nadine went to one of the boothes and sat down. Harley followed.
Jenna: Buzz, you mentioned a surprise.
Buzz: Yeah, well, I wanted to give it to you at the firehouse, but since you're here...
He took Jenna in the back room.
Harley: Mommy, is this about Jenna being here?
Nadine: (pouty face) She's taken away the one man that I love and I'm not going to let her get away with it.
INT. Back Room
Buzz covered her eyes with his hand.
Jenna: (anxious) What is it? What's the surprise?
Buzz: Okay, you can look.
He removed his hand from her eyes and she smiled.
Jenna: (smiling) Oh, Buzz.
It was a cake that read, "Happy Anniversary" and inside a heart, it read, "Jenna and Buzz Together Forever." Jenna was in tears and kissed Buzz.
Jenna: I love you.
Buzz: I love you too, Petula. Remember when I first called you that?
Jenna: (smiling) Yes.
He took her hand and led her outside.
Buzz: I have something else for you.
Jenna: Another surprise?
Buzz: See that?
Jenna: The car?
Buzz: Yes. The ExCalibur. I know that this car means a lot to you, so I'm giving it to you.
Jenna: Buzz, I don't know what to say.
Buzz: Don't say anything. (handed her the keys) Get in.
She smiled and got into the car.
Jenna: How do I look?
Buzz: Honey, you look marvelous.
Jenna: (smiles) Would like to ride with me? Buzz: I don't know.
Jenna: (frowned) You don't know?
Buzz: This is, uh, our first anniversary. We met one year ago today. So, the question is, do you want a guy like me in your beautiful car?
Jenna: Yeah, I do.
Buzz: (grins) Well, I can't exactly get in without introducing myself. (walked closer to the car) Hello, my name is Buzz Cooper. What's you name?
Jenna: (smiles) Jenna Bradshaw. Do you need a ride?
Buzz: Yes, as a matter a fact I do.
Jenna: Well, hop in.
Buzz got into the car.
Buzz: You look very stunning. Are you meeting anyone special?
Jenna: As a matter a fact, I am. He's about medium height, brown hair, and very handsome...like you.
Buzz: He's a very lucky man.
Jenna: You know, I could forget all about him and we could paint the town red.
Buzz: Do you think that would be best?
Jenna: I've never been more certain.
Buzz and Jenna kissed.
Buzz: Happy Anniversary, Jenna.
Jenna: Happy Anniversary, Buzz.
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner
Harley and Nadine still sat at the boothe.
Nadine: Everytime I get alone with Buzz, there she is. She is such a leach in Buzz's life. I wish there could be some way for those two to break up.
Harley: She has broke his heart before, but I don't want to see his heart broken again.
Nadine: Neither do I, but if that is the only way to get him back, then it's a risk I'll just have to take.
Scene 6
INT. Spaulding Enterprises - Day
Lucy was packing up to go to lunch with Alan-Michael. Alan-Michael came out of Alexandra's office and walked over to Lucy's desk.
Lucy: I'm just about ready.
Alan-Michael: Lucy, could we take a rain check on our lunch plans? Aunt Alex wants me to go over some important papers that concern the future of this company.
Lucy: Sure, I understand. She's worried about Mr. Thorpe.
Alan-Michael: Yeah. Maybe we could do dinner. Tonight, okay?
Lucy: Okay.
Alan-Michael: Great. I'll pick you up at eight. Is Towers okay?
Lucy: Yeah, that would be great.
Alan-Michael: Tell you what. Take the rest of the day off. We can manage here.
Lucy: Okay.
Lucy went into the elevator and watched Alan-Michael as the doors were closing.
Scene 7
EXT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Afternoon
Jenna and Buzz returned from their car ride through the streets of Springfield. He held her in his arms and kissed her head gently. Buzz then got out of the car and ran to the other side to let Jenna out. He took her hand and helped her out of the car.
Jenna: Are we going back to the firehouse?
Buzz: Sure, but I think you'll change your mind when you see what I have planned for us.
Jenna: (smiling) More surprises?
Hand in hand they went into the diner.
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner
Nadine and Harley were conversing to each other in the boothe. Eleni cuddled close to Frank and gave him kisses. Jenna and Buzz entered the diner laughing. Nadine looked at Buzz with her pouty face.
Nadine: I don't know if I can stay here if she's going to be here.
Harley: I'll go talk to dad.
She got up and walked over to Buzz.
Harley: Hey, dad. Can I talk to you for a second.
Buzz: Sure. (to Jenna) I'll be right back.
Harley took him into the back room.
Nadine got up and started refilling the napkins.
Jenna: (facing Nadine) Did you and Harley have a nice little chit chat about me while I was away?
Nadine: Why would we waste our breath on you?
Jenna: All right. You obviously don't want to talk about it. You'll save that for Buzz, am I right? Go ahead. Tell Buzz what you think about me. In fact, you can tell all of Springfield. But if you ever cross me, you'll be sorry.
Nadine: Your little threats can't hurt me. There is one thing Buzz and I have that you don't.
Jenna: (laughs) Who? Frank and Harley? Are you going to throw those two in my face again?
Nadine: We have a connection, Jenna, and Buzz will never turn his back on his family...not again.
Lucy entered the diner.
Frank: Hi, Lucy.
Lucy: Hey.
Eleni: Are you on your lunch break, Lucy?
Lucy: Yeah, sorta. Alan-Michael said I didn't have to come back to work today.
Eleni: Oh?
Frank: So you're still hanging around Alan-Michael?
Eleni: Frank. (to Lucy) Is there anything special happening?
Lucy: Well, Alan-Michael is taking me to the Towers tonight.
Harley and Buzz came from the back room.
Buzz: (to Lucy) Hi, honey.
Lucy: Hey, dad.
They hugged.
Buzz: (looking at Harley) Oh, uh, this is your sister, Harley. And Harley, this is Lucy.
Harley: Hi.
Lucy: Hey.
Buzz looked at Jenna who was holding a rose and smiling at him.
Buzz: Look, I'd love to stay, but I have a busy day today. (kissed Harley and Lucy on the head) I'll see you both later.
He grabbed Jenna and they were out the door. Nadine walked out of the room.
Eleni: (smiling) Well, I'm glad you two have finally met.
Harley: Yeah, I am too, but there's something that's bugging me though. (to Lucy) Haven't I met you before?
Lucy: I don't think so.
Harley: (thought for a moment) Wait. I know where I've seen you. You were at my wedding reception.
Eleni: That's right. You were.
Lucy: Oh...yeah.
Eleni: (looking around) Where's Nadine?
EXT. Wheels and Meals Diner
Nadine stood outside crying and thought about her memories of Buzz before he left her twenty years ago. Eleni stepped outside and put her hand on Nadine's shoulder.
Eleni: We're going to close the diner and have a Cooper family get together at our house.
Nadine: I don't feel much like celebrating today. This relationship with Buzz and Jenna is going too far and I have to find a way to stop it.
Scene 8
INT. Firehouse
The mysterious person broke into the firehouse and began trashing it. Papers and furniture were tossed all over the room.
Buzz and Jenna approached the door and stopped.
Jenna: Is this part of the surprise?
Buzz gave her a kiss.
Buzz: You want your surprise now?
Jenna: Yes.
Buzz: Okay. Come on.
They left the firehouse and got back into the ExCalibur.
Buzz: Wait a second. I have to get something out of the firehouse. You wait here.
Jenna: Okay. (kisses him) Hurry back.
Buzz went to the door and got out his keys. He found the right one, put the key into the lock, and jiggled it around. The mysterious intruder looked for a place to hide. Buzz opened the door, turned on the light, and walked into the livingroom. He saw the firehouse in shambles.
Buzz: What happened?
Each step he took, he took with caution. He noticed a piece of shredded cloth caught on a chair that had been knocked over.
Buzz: Who's here?
He investigated the surroundings.
Buzz: Rog? I know it's you. Get out here.
He looked inside the closet and it was empty.
Buzz: Where are you Thorpe? Are you in the bathroom?
He put his hand on the door knob and began to turn it, but it opened by itself. The mysterious face finally became known. It was, in fact, Roger Thorpe.
Buzz: Well, Roger, you have some explaining to do. For starters, what the hell are you doing here?
Jenna walked through the door.
Jenna: I was getting a bit antsy in the car and so I... (sees Roger) What is he doing here?
Buzz: I was wondering the same thing.
Scene 9
INT. Frank and Eleni's House - Evening
Lucy was preparing for Alan-Michael to come pick her up. Harley helped her with her hair and make up upstairs. Once they were finished, Eleni came downstairs and announced Lucy's entrance. She came down the stairs wearing a sparkly blue dress with one of Nadine's fake furs.
Frank: Wow, Lucy. You look gorgeous.
Lucy: Thanks.
Eleni: Harley did her hair and I helped with her make up.
Harley followed behind Lucy.
Harley: Lucy, you are going to knock the socks off of Alan-Michael.
Eleni: I wish Nadine and Buzz could be here to see her.
Frank: Harley, do you know what's bothering mom? She sure hasn't been herself today.
Eleni looked out the window.
Eleni: Lucy, Alan-Michael is here.
Harley: Okay, you have a good time.
Alan-Michael came to the door and Eleni answered.
Eleni: Hello, Alan-Michael.
Alan-Michael: Hi, Eleni.
Eleni: Do you want to come in?
Alan-Michael: Okay.
He saw Lucy and smiled.
Alan-Michael: You look magnificent.
Lucy: (smiling) Thanks.
Alan-Michael: Hey, Harley. I didn't know that you were back in town.
Harley: Yep, I'm back.
Alan-Michael: That's good.
Lucy: Look, uh, I think that we better be going.
Alan-Michael: Yeah, we should. We have reservations and everything.
Eleni: Well, have a nice time, Lucy.
Lucy: I will. Bye.
Lucy and Alan-Michael exited their house.
Scene 10
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Evening
Nadine sat alone in the diner while the song "Crazy," sung by Patsy Cline, played in the background. She held a picture of her and Buzz on their wedding day.
Nadine: Why, Buzz? Why did you return to Springfield? All the feelings that I once had for you have come back and now I feel like I did twenty years ago. (to the picture) We were so happy then. I just wish things were the same as they were when we first got married.
Nadine had tears running down her face.
Harley entered the diner and sat next to her mother.
Harley: You should have seen Lucy tonight. She looked so beautiful. She even wore one of your fur coats...(saw Nadine crying) Mommy, what's wrong?
Nadine: Oh, it's nothing, honey.
Harley: What's this?
She took the picture from Nadine's finger tips.
Harley: It's a picture of you and dad.
Nadine: It was taken on our wedding day.
Harley began to tear up. She hugged her mother very tight.
The background music, "Crazy," ends.
Scene 10
INT. Firehouse - Night
Buzz and Jenna waited for Roger to answer their question.
Roger: I came here to see if Jenna was alright.
Buzz: That's none of your damn buisness anymore, Roger.
Roger: (coughing; looking at Jenna) I also came to apologize for upsetting you before.
Buzz: Get out of here before I throw you out!
Roger: Okay. Okay. I'll leave. I don't want to make trouble.
Buzz: You're too late on that. Everywhere you go, trouble follows you around.
Roger: I guess I deserved that.
Buzz: If you're trying to make us feel sorry for you, it's not working.
Roger: Jenna, do you want me to leave?
Jenna: I want you to...go to hell.
Roger: You don't mean that.
Jenna: Oh, yes. You can burn there forever for all I care. (brief pause) No...Hell is too good for you.
Roger: Jenna...
Jenna: You killed my baby. My baby! The one thing that was mine and belonged to me.
Roger: The baby was mine t---
Jenna: No, that baby would have never been yours. NEVER! I hate you for what you did. I want you to leave now or I'll call the police.
Jenna turned around and walked away.
Buzz grabbed Roger by the shirt and pinned him against the wall.
Buzz: (angry) You stay away from Jenna, okay? If you come anywhere near her, I'll call the police and have you put in jail.
He pushed Roger out the door and closed it tight. Buzz turned and saw Jenna in the corner crying. He slowly approached Jenna and held her.
INT. Frank and Eleni's - Morning
Nadine and Harley came through the door after spending the night talking at the diner. Both of them crashed on the couch and laid their heads on the back cushions.
Eleni came downstairs and saw them.
Eleni: Hey. I didn't hear you come in last night.
Harley: We didn't.
Eleni: Oh?
Harley: We were having mother-daughter time.
Eleni: (smiling) Good. Are you hungry.
Nadine: (yawning) I'm tired. I think I'm going to bed.
Harley: I'd love to sleep, but I have to go to the station and get my job back.
Harley forced herself up off the couch.
Nadine: Harley...
Harley: Don't worry, mommy. I'll take care of it.
Nadine smiled.
Harley left the house.
Scene 11
INT. Firehouse - Morning
Jenna woke up in Buzz's arms. She looked at him, smiled, and kissed his neck softly. Buzz opened his eyes.
Buzz: Good morning.
Jenna: (still smiling) I love you.
Buzz and Jenna kissed.
Buzz: Well, Petula, do you want your anniversary surprise?
Jenna: It's not too late?
Buzz: Not for us...never.
He gave her another kiss.
Jenna: Well, I can't wait.
Buzz: (grabbing her hand) Come on.
They went out the door and once it was closed, the phone rang.
INT. Springfield Police Department - Morning
Harley held the phone to her ear as it rang and rang. Frank came in and she quickly hung up the phone.
Frank: Well, sis, I talked to the chief and...you start Monday.
Harley: Great. I can't wait to get back to work. (brief pause) Frank, I have some places to go today, so I'll see you later, okay?
Frank: All right. I'll see you later.
Harley left.
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Day
Nadine stood behind the counter.
Nadine: (thinking) I hope this plan works.
Julie Camaletti came into the diner and sat at the counter.
Julie: Hi, Nadine.
Nadine: What can I get you, Julie?
Julie: Um, how about a cup of coffee. (Nadine starts fixing the coffee) Is Frank here?
Nadine: No, he's at the station.
Someone was piering at them through the window.
Scene 12
EXT. Firehouse - Afternoon
Harley opened the door and went inside. Before she could close the door, someone grabbed her and put a white cloth over her face. She shut her eyes and fell to the floor. She was dragged into the firehouse. A little while later, when Harley opened her eyes, she saw Jenna, who was dressed all in black.
Harley: (wearily) Jenna?
Jenna: Don't talk. Drink this. (gives her water) I'll ask you a few questions. (Harley nods) First off, why are you here? I want the truth.
Harley: I wanted to see you.
Jenna: What for?
Harley: I wanted to let you know that...
Jenna: What?
Harley: Leave, daddy.
Jenna: Leave you father? (brief pause) Wait a minute. Nadine sent you here, didn't she?
Harley: Yeah, but she means well. She loves him so much. (pause) Jenna?
Jenna: Hm?
Harley: Why am I on the floor?
Jenna: Well, Harley, you broke in here and we had a scare recently. I thought you were Roger.
Harley: I'm glad you weren't carrying a bat.
Jenna: Come on. I'll move you to the couch.
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Night
Nadine was getting ready to close up when there was a noise outside. She checked the back area and heard a loud crash that came from the dumpster. She slowly approached the dumpster and opened the lid. Nadine looked inside. When she saw what was in there, she screamed. Nadine then stepped back and felt a cold hand on her shoulder. She turned around and a dark figure stared back at her. She screamed again. It was A.C. Mallet.
Mallet: It's only me.
Nadine: Thank God. You have to help me.
Mallet: Okay.
Nadine: There's a dead body in the dumpster over there.
Mallet: Are you sure?
Nadine: Yes.
Mallet: Did you touch anything?
Nadine: No.
Mallet checked inside the dumpster and saw what appeared to be his little sister brutally murdered.
Mallet: (mouth agape) I have to call the police. Did you see anything at all?
Nadine: No.
There was a sound that came from the alley. Nadine ran back into the diner and came face-to-face with Roger Thorpe, who was smiling at her. A thumping noise occured outside. Nadine turned around to see what happened and Roger grabbed her. She screamed for 'help' many times.
Roger: The deed has been done. Now it's my turn.
Nadine: (crying) Why are you doing this?
Roger: I don't want to.
Nadine: Let me go and I'll never tell.
Roger: You're a Cooper. Of course you're going to go crawling to your cop children and have me put away for a very long time.
Nadine: I promise you.
Roger: Sorry...do you have any last words?
Nadine screamed.
Harley came through the door and saved the day. She had in her hands, a gun.
Harley: Springfield police! Roger, put your hands up!
Nadine went over to Harley.
Nadine: I'm glad you're here, honey. I think Mallet is hurt in the alley.
Harley: Mommy, Mallet's fine. He called us from his car. Frank is with him right now.
Nadine: Thank God. And Julie...
Harley: I know about that. You see, this was a 'sting' operation and everyone was in on it...except for Julie. Sadly, she was a victim of one of Roger's attempts to hurt our family. (Harley slaps handcuffs on Roger) You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do will be held against you in a court of law...
Scene 13
INT. Firehouse - Night
Buzz got off the phone and looked at Jenna.
Jenna: What is it?
Buzz: That was Frank on the phone. Roger's been arrested.
Jenna: (laughs) That's wonderful news.
Buzz: Yeah.
Jenna: I'm finally free from him.
Buzz: I hope he rots in there.
He took Jenna in his arms and embraced her.
INT. Wheels and Meals Diner - Night
Harley handed Roger over to Mallet so she could comfort her mother.
Harley: Mommy, you should go home now and rest.
Nadine: How can I rest? I could have died tonight.
Harley hugged her.
Harley: You're safe now.
Frank: Mom, I'm sorry you had to be put through all this, but we caught Roger. (to Harley) I called dad.
Harley: Is he okay?
Frank: Yeah.
Harley: Where is he?
Frank: He's at the firehouse with Jenna.
Nadine started to walk away; pretending she didn't hear what Frank said.
Harley: (her hand to her forehead) Why did I have to ask that question?
Frank: Mom, I want you to go home. I don't think you should stay here.
Nadine: I'll be fine, Frank.
Frank: Mom, please.
Harley: I'll take her home, Frank.
Frank: (to Nadine) Will you go with, Harley? I'd feel much better if I knew you were safe at home.
Nadine: Okay, Frank.
Harley left with Nadine.
Detective Levy came into the diner with one of Roger's men in handcuffs, who was also Julie's killer.
Detective Levy: I'm taking this one down to the station and question him.
Levy left.
Frank turned the lights out in the diner.
Frank: (looks at the dark and empty diner) I guess Springfield can finally sleep soundly tonight.
Frank left.
